So I was shuffling my itunes and I hit on this song and all I could think was “What if Smol went out into the ruins by the Castle with some Minutemen to scavenge materials for building up the walls and they get principally all wrecked because of all the Mirelurks, Raiders, and Supermutants in the area that the people coming in from other areas [given the recent recapture] aren’t aware of? Then only an injured Smol and part of the scavenging group comes back, and Smol sits in the infirmary, looking at their Pip-boy, wondering if they slowed everyone down by not being able to help enough.”
And then I got mad at my brain, but i felt i should share.

Ok so i was watching my brother play and he got the UFO crash event I had a Thought.
I just imagined Smol being at Oberland station with Mac and Dogmeat, helping the settlers build up the houses and plant some food when it happened-- since the ship crashes literally right next to the settlement. Like they look up because someone points out the ball of fire in the sky heading their way. Mac would grab Smol, the settlers and they would run down the hill in case it hit the settlement and be thrown down the embankment by the shock wave while soil, rock and broken trees rained down on the area. When things calm down, the settlers go back to check on their homes and Mac insists they’ll check it out [if only because it’s him saying it or Smol determining they’d go look alone] while the others make sure fires are out.
Well, that’s the plan till he sees a flying saucer and practically drags Smol away like “NOPE, I AM NOT HERE FOR ALIENS, NOPE. C’mon, kid, we’re going NOW.” But Smol’s eyes are all sparkling and determined, looking at this like it’s from a comic book-- and they see the blood trail. “We gotta follow the blood!” “Bloo-- oh f- heck no. We are not finding some alien sh- ugh, no!” “But what if they’re scouts for the mother ship! We gotta interrogate ‘em! The minutmen gotta prepare and we need to find them!” “Mother ship?!? Kid, please--” “C’mon Mac! Dogmeat, on the trail!”
Smol determining they’re goin’ on alien hunt and Mac being 0% ok.
because missions don’t accomplish themselves, maccready

Consider: Smol going to the Castle with Preston after they’ve charmed a small army into helping him reclaim it and he’s bringing them to help rebuild because he knows they love helping him build up settlements. They spend the whole time traveling asking if it looks like an actual Castle because they never got to visit Fort Independence pre-war, and are disappointed when he says there’s no big towers or anything. “It’s pretty much a castle, though.” He insists. By the time they get there, Smol has scribbled up plans in a notebook. After a few hours of being in the actual place, they insist it’s gotta look like an actual Castle. “We haveta make a moat, Preston!” “I’m pretty sure that’s covered on two sides.” “Fine, but a draw bridge?” “We have doors.” “You’re no fun. Do we have any catapults or canons?” Preston just laughs and thinks for a moment. “I think we can come up with something like that.”
Smol is much too pleased with Artillery existing and running around on repaired walkways over the slowly repairing walls, insisting they’re “on patrol”.

I turn everything i touch sad, ppl who know me know this
Please consider it being winter and Smol really wants it to snow so they can build a snowman, but since the whole fallout thing, it doesn’t really snow enough to make anything-- it just gets really cold. So Maccready being the giant child that he is convinces Curie, being the every inventive and intrigued person that she is, to modify the Cryolater that they got out of the Vault so it would seem like it was snowing in one part of Sanctuary for Smol. They make sure no one tells Smol about it till it’s all together and there’s enough for a few snowmen, and then they bring them out to play in it. Smol starts a snowball fight after about 3 tiny snow people are made because everyone else isn’t playing too much with the snow.
