❈ ~ “I believe you do not need light to see me, miss Lacroix.” To be encountering the infamous Talon sniper in person - Satya hadn’t expected it. Yet here they were and she could see the unmistakable bluish hue of the tall woman’s skin. “I would prefer we departed with our lives,” the Indian said cautiously as she took a few steps forward.
Widowmaker hated when people called her that. Especially using the title “miss.” Lacroix was the married name of a woman whom she considered as dead as the man who had given her the name.
Hoisting her rifle on her shoulder, and lifting her visor, Widowmaker sneered.
howunsightly replied to your post: // I really should learn to play Ana better as...
//Just snip from the hip and throw your piss once in a while, and don’t hold onto your nanaboost. Once you get a hang of her projectile travel time, you’re gold!
// I just need to put the time into her to actually be good - I'm usually only playing her in skirmishes.
Practice makes perfect and all that
Let’s talk about characterization and piss a lot of people off in the process, shall we?
I fully support people writing characters as they see fit. Your headcanons, your muse, I’m not going to step in and try to police anything because that’s not my place and it’s not anyone else’s. So it bugs the shit out of me that there are some people that act like there’s only one way to write a character. For the love of god just shut the fuck up and stay in your lane. If it bugs you that much black list the person or block the post or just grow up in general.
THAT BEING SAID; you should be writing a character because you enjoy their personality and backstory. If you vastly change a character’s personality and motivations and actions, why are you writing them? Why not find a character that actually fits the personality you want to write? I think it’s ridiculous that some people take a character and basically use them as a skin for an oc. Just go through the process of making an oc instead. I know they get less traffic than canon characters, but you’ll have more genuine interactions because of it.
Another thing that bugs the shit out of me is people that take beautifully complex character and flattens them out to one a one dimensional meme. Reinhardt is one that immediately comes to mind. He’s a career soldier, has gone through more hardships and loss than anyone else on the team, was forced out of OW and still continued to help people because he feels it’s what’s right for him to do. What does the fandom do? They made him ‘oh haha soft grandpa wouldn’t hurt a fly’ even though he would don his armor and crush the skulls of those hurting the people that can’t protect themselves. It’s so frustrating to see these wonderfully complex characters reduced to the lowest denominator because some people can’t seem to grasp complexity if it came up and smacked them in the face. There’s more than enough space in the fandom to allow complexity, so can we embrace it for fuck’s sake.
Now, along the lines of the last point, stop fucking woobifying characters. Someone with a tragic past does something unspeakable? Cool story, still murder. Personally, I absolutely love the murky gray area between “good” and “evil”. What things with a “good” person compromise on? What morals does an “evil” person have? Though, having a couple redeeming qualities doesn’t mean an evil person’s good and the flipside, making compromises doesn’t make a good person evil. And it’s a good challenge of you as a person as to what makes someone “evil” and what can be justified in the name of “good”. {though now I just miss writing my villain. rip dead fandoms}
Another thing I don’t understand is people that have a “good is boring, evil is interesting” mindset. Yes, an evil character can have a rich backstory and history that makes them absolutely fascinating. They can also be boring as fuck and not require a second thought, ie: the evil guys that do everything for money. And, yes, there’s the ‘oh, the good guys that do everything “good” just because it’s “right”’ types too, but there are the internal battles that make doing the “right” thing hard or having to choose the lesser of two evils.
I just wish that this fandom was more willing to give every character the space they deserve and not obsess over a tiny fraction of the cast.
Vishkar. A company providing the newest technology around hard light manipulation, hard light structure and architecture. One would think that the mad scientist with a renowned name in criminal circles and a cruel reputation would never target them. But there were two reasons why Joe decided to infiltrate them. For first one of Talon’s councilmen had a personal interest in destroying their business, causing them harm from within in order for them to loose profit. For second, they recently developed plans for structures the former doctor planned to use and apply on her own equipment. With the help of those plans she could upgrade her gear and medical instruments.
There was not a chance for her to obtain them legally. Luckily, she didn’t care for any rules. So let’s prove the cliche of polish people being thieves true. With a small team of only three more men she broke into one of their location by night. She ordered her agents to clear her path. Obeying her, they went ahead the corridor after knocking out some guards who were in their way. Joe anticipated that no one else should be there at such a late hour. Another encounter seemed unlikely. Still, the scientist reminded herself to stay wary as she ordered her subordinates to cause havoc while she went on alone, searching for their archives.
Force shipping. I really really hate when people do that.
For an example let me take one of the most favorite Overwatch ships: McHanzo. Now, because of how far it has developed, of the fanart and probably ton of fanfiction spread all over the web, if someone would make a blog for Hanzo or McCree, majority of other roleplayers would expect you to portray them as homosexuals and ship with their male muse.
And what if I don’t want to? What if I really can not get behind this ship even though it is cute? Obviously I will be told how superior this ship is. Duh.
I’ve had people force ships on me. It ain’t nice.
Please, folk, do not get me wrong here. You ship what ever you want and if it is an engine to your shippy fuel, go for it, don’t let my opinion cloud you. Before anyone even starts to bash me about being a homophobic or something like that, let me remind you one thing: I portray Tracer. She has a girlfriend and it is 100% canon. And as for myself I am not in the heterosexual spectrum.
Put an Overwatch hero in my ask and I’ll tell you…
- How often I play them: I used to play her really often but now I do so occasionally. I’ve become fond of Ana for a sniper and I’m practicing on my poor aiming.
- Which maps I like to use them on: Watchpoint: Gibraltar and King’s Row. Oh, I forgot Dorado.
- Which skin I currently have equipped: Huntress, it’s my fave and it’s funny that it’s the very first skin I’ve ever gotten in the game.
-Who I ship them with: Tracer (Mostly because the memes are hilarious), Reaper. I don’t have many ships for her, sadly. I’d like to add more.

Multiple times. Sometimes I stuck with the person, and sometimes I let them have another chance and after they screwed up again, I got rid of them for good. I try to let people have multiple chances because we’re all human and mess up but I have my limits.
