Wanted your opinion on something I keep thinking about but can’t make my mind up on. If Sirius ever married his bf, and they decided to share a last name, whose name would they take? On one hand Sirius hates his family & their awful history, & taking his bfs name could be a great ‘new chapter’, symbolically leaving his old family & starting the new one (as well as posthumously flipping off the family saw the continuation of the Black name as so important). On the other hand, I feel like there is this petty part of him that wants to keep the name out of spite, he’s the last Black standing and what better way to stick it to ‘em than by living his best life, ‘disgracing’ the name by marrying someone they’d never approve of, giving their Noble & Most Ancient Black name to his (potentially non-pureblood, non-slytherin) man out of glorious spite and potentially redefining it. (There may also be a part of him that doesn’t want to let go of the few decent family members he had, e.g. Alphard, Andromeda, Regulus). What do you think? - 🦇
I think he’d absolutely be spiteful as hell and wear “Black” as a sign of pride in absolutely destroying his family line. He’s that bitch. He’d probably bully the paintings about it, maybe even *cough* if he lived *cough* he’d even adopt a kid with y/n and (love them of course), but also be mega proud of the fact that he ADOPTED a child that has no connection to the Black family at all and be proud of the fact that he’s basically changing Black family history by beautifully constructing a new family legacy built far far away from what it use to be.
