hp update: finished bills career choosing side quest and did the Big Prank

saved up enough red notebook currency to befriend the acromantula. i feel very weird about treating this giant spider pal the same as the other befriendable creatures, given that it has human intelligence and can talk. it doesnt have any dialog in the game, but still. it feels like in the pokemon tv show, where ashes mom feeds mr. mime in with a bowl on the ground. 

bills side quest was make-up for him not having any screen time in the O.W.L.s event. he tells you that macgonagall wants him to consider multiple career options, in case becoming a curse breaker doesnt work out, which we know it does so w/e.

we go on a small journey through hogwarts, with bill trying out activities related to different careers and he pretty much sucks at all of them. 

“curse breaker it is then,” we decide. good times is had by all.

but then there is the BIG PRANK chapter

we have been working up to it for a long time now. it begins with the mc, jae, tonks, and tulip, hauling a big box of boomerangs to the front of the great hall with no one noticing. we each, in turn, get to do a very fun holding up boomerang hip wiggle + pixar face animation. it was might funny to me. then we start throwing.

the boomerangs fly around the hall and never come down or go back to the thrower. we get a nice level of all the kids in the hall being menaced by them. some kids are holding their heads, some are taking cover under tables. most of your friends are there, most of them having the response of “i know you were planning a prank but what the fuckkkk”

chiara is trying to cast protective spells. barnaby has the dialog “should we try to catch them?” he also appears to be protecting ismelda as she cowers behind him, which-- @gamedevs STOP. IT. they are a boy goon and a girl goon. that does not mean they need to be together >:/. talbott is there too. 

you and your havoc wreaking team are apprehensive as everyone runs out of the hall because the boomerangs arent coming back to you, this is more prank than you had in mind. but its too late, its time for prank part 2; the troll is already on the training grounds!

liz is there, successfully having lured the troll to the school. well, she says she gave it the meat she stole and then it chased her here. the troll does an animation where it slams its club on the ground and kids fly backward. this is an upgrade from the werewolf event where the monsters in question could only stand menacingly around the kids. 

its time for the mc to duel the troll. liz begs you not to hurt it. diego, my chosen dueling companion, shows up ready to back me up.  i thought the fight was well done. we subdue the beast with as little troll damage as we can. everyone runs out of the court yard. then it is time for prank part 3. also hagrid is disappointed in you.

badeea is ready in the courtyard with her painting. she casts her new spell. shooting stars begin falling in the night sky in the painting for a whimsical effect. in real life, shooting stars begin falling as well.... and hitting the ground. you are given the choice of what to do in this senario. i choose to float above the star shower with badeea until its safe to come down again. it is undeniably the best option + view. there more distressed animations, more kids being flung backwards. but you did it. the prank is done U-U

i am avoiding spoilers, but the chapter ends with the mc back in sandwich hell, filling in jae. we are back on food duty. there are some new loaves of bread models that werent there before. filch comes in. he has reason to believe we did the prank, and with good reason, because we told enough people what we are doing. i get the option to tell him no it wasnt me, and we were just talking about our new band. jae gets to look around, see the bread, and make up a band name on the spot, i forget what it was now. 

pitts walks up. hes like hey, you cant bring a cat in here. filch gets mad, but hes right, so he leaves. 

now pitts character arc comes to a close as he tells me that this is going to be my last detention and we thank him for not ratting us out. he tells us that hes been listening in the entire time and knows we stole the meat. just figured kids like meat and liz is nice so its ok. jae asks if this is his last detention too and pitts says no. 

overall a very good chapter. only a few more left.
