orientation’s wound to a close, and classes have kicked off. since this is an academy rather than a school, with students of vastly different backgrounds and experience, there’s a lot of variation in how different classes are run. there’s more focus on picking up skills, and while grades exist, they’re more to tell students where they stand rather than to give them a score to graduate with. failing grades will not result in a student being asked to leave, but the student will be encouraged to take the class again.
faculty would like to remind students of the requirement to contribute 10 hours per week to the running of the campus - this can take place by helping out at stores, cafes, libraries or other facilities, or internships at the labs or hospital. students are free to rotate between different jobs.
now that classes have formally begun, what kind of hi-jinks will everyone get up to? who’s going to be the first to blow up the gym, or program killer robots?
OOC INFORMATION
students are free to attend as many or as few classes as they want! just so long as they attend at least one class.
we’ll be publishing a sentence starters meme as well, for some additional inspiration, so keep an eye out for that!
for tutors, feel free to message us (off anon!) if you have any ideas for your classes or want to give a general description of how they would be run! we can put together a list. for instance, let us know if you want to hold any special tasks or events, like a demonstration, or if you’re offering to do something for the academy (like build power suits for everyone).
please keep the admins updated of major plot developments that can affect the whole academy (like blowing up the gym or building killer robots) so that we can update the group as well! please get prior admin approval for plots involving serious injury or death.
after following doctor strange through the portal, you find yourself here on campus. things are a lot different now and you’re going to have to put in the effort to improve yourself for the better. some of you had time to pack, some of you didn’t. and some of you told your world-parents, and some did not. everyone has a different story to tell on their journey back in time.
friendships, romantic interests, enemies, and everything in-between will form here - it’s just how it happens when the element of emotions get involved. but rest assured, the classes you take are worth it, they’re taught by experts (and coincidentally sometimes your this world’s version of parents) - and you’ll likely discover things about your parents you never knew.
so take the time to explore the campus, get to know the teachers and fellow students, and enjoy the free food that the school has to offer. and don’t forget, classes start first thing - so don’t be late or some of your teachers will track you down.
as for staff, this is a labour of love that’s been five years in the making. some of you might have been involved since the beginning, and some of you might have just arrived. some of you might be excited about this and others might be wondering what on earth you’re doing here ... and yet others may have ulterior motives.
this first week is orientation! classes haven’t started, but guided tours are going on and everyone is encouraged to mingle. student lounges, the staff room, the restaurants/cafes/beer garden are all great places to meet. feel free to explore the classrooms, libraries, labs, training facilities and workout facilities, ask the staff any questions you want to ask (like whether stephen strange actually can make his hair move, whether steve rogers skipped leg day, and whether jean grey can actually hear everything you’re thinking.)
OOC INFORMATION
this is just the introductory event - interactions are open! which means starters may be posted by everyone, so long as it’s one per character.
feel free to interact with just about anyone that’s here and enjoy plotting!
take advantage of the locations page - that way you can use it to help build where your character may be upon first getting their bearings at the school.
keep an eye out for our first task - :)
and a friendly reminder to get your character intros out before our first activity check!
