Twenty Questions (Skip, Rated E)
"Can I tell you stuff that is fun?” "Sure," Kip invites. "Like what?"
Scott and Kip learn what makes each other tick.
Fluffy, flirty, with a sprinkle of hurt/comfort energy. Please note, this is based 100% on show canon, I know nothing of what preferences they might express in the book.
Read on AO3 (~1300wd)
Twenty Questions
“Mmwhat's that face?” Kip asks one night, blissfully drifting on the post-orgasm haze, but not so lost he doesn't notice the unusually pensive look in his partner's eyes. Wistful, almost.
“Nothing,” Scott says, lifting Kip's knuckles to his lips. “Just. I love this with you.”
“Aw. I love this with you, too.”
“It's fun.”
“Yeah.” Kip strokes a sweaty lock of hair out of Scott's face. “That's kind of the point, babe.”
Scott is smiling, but there's something he's not saying.
WIP Wednesday
okay i'm gonna attempt to be better at doing these again so thanks for the tags @beefybisexualrozanov & @dizzymisslizzie
today we are going with a lil game changers/heated rivalry Scott/Kip snip of one of my things for the 12 days (game changer and heated rivalry) event
The air has gone thick, slow, honey-warm with everything they have said and everything they haven’t yet. Scott kisses him again, deep and slow with his thumb stroking the hinge of his jaw, and when he pulls away, he sounds like he’s been scraped raw with want. “Can I fuck you?” It’s barely a question. Barely a sound. But Kip gasps at it like he’s been waiting, like they both have known exactly where this night was going to end. “Yes. Please.” The please is what undoes Scott. He stands with Kip still in his arms, Kip’s arms wrapped around his neck. Kip laughs, breath buzzing against Scott’s throat like a soft vibration, like joy. He carries Kip down the hallway, both of them only half-thinking with the heavy weight of what’s to come. Bedroom light off. Sheets cool, faintly crisp, waiting. Scott sets him down on the bed, and Kip spreads open without waiting, eyes glassy from kissing and need. Scott eases. Slow. He wants to remember this. He wants Kip to feel fucking treasured. He mouths along his throat, slow, then lower, tasting skin and warm from beneath his lips. He licks at his collarbone, pauses at the hollow of his chest, and feels the ragged hitch in his breathing. His hands follow ribs, waist, hipbones, tracing as if he’s committing coordinates to memory.
and double dipping today with a lil RWRB (cuz i have so much to post lolz) smut under the cut that i need to post at some point lolz and tags of course
just read hands down my fav Heated Rivalry fic so far. what if HR actually stood for Human Resources and not Heated Rivalry. epistolary fics remain at the forefront of quality and fun for this show and you can quote me on that. extremely funny and also i wish australians would write fic more it's such a breath of fresh air
on the shoulders of giants
Scott tries to imagine what they look like from the end of the alley. Two bros, sitting two feet apart on a bench staring at the concrete instead of each other for whatever this is, because they're not gay. Jesus.
AN ~ for the Heated Rivalry Prompt Meme on AO3.
Ilya talks to Scott after the MLH awards. Primarily from Scott's perspective (Limited 3rd POV). Based entirely on show canon (although I may have incidentally channeled some book by osmosis)
tw; some canon typical homophobia references, incl. one f slur.

on the shoulders of giants
“Scott Hunter.”
Great. He'd been hoping for a breath of fresh air before the after party, but apparently not.
Scott leans forward on the bench, staring at the ground, bracing himself not to give the asshole the satisfaction of a reaction.
“What do you want, Rozanov?”
AN ~ future fic, fluff/hurt/comfort, bc i am EmotionalTM about Ilya & Svetlana and I could never go back. will probably form part of a ficlet series/collection because i am in a glass case and fic fragments are flying all over the place. accepting prompts.
rshps: Hollanov (est.), Ilya & Svetlana. ~450wd.

Ilya chuckles as Shane adjusts his sleeves, his collar, then his sleeves again. Shane glares at his reflection. “What?” he snipes, with a perfect little frown that only makes Ilya's heart grow fonder.
“My love,” he croons. “She is not my mother.”
“She's your best friend,” Shane returns. “I want to make a good impression.”
“She already loves you.”
“Because you love me?” Shane almost rolls his eyes, and Ilya scoffs.
“No. Because she is big hockey fan, and you have best shooting percentage in the league.”
If Ilya had been within shoving distance, he would have got a good one for that. As it is, Shane balls up a tie and pelts it across the room at him. He dives on it with an impish grin and tosses it back, but Shane dodges effortlessly and it flops onto the dresser.
“Get dressed,” Shane commands.
“I am dressed.” Ilya gestures at himself. Shane ordinarily loves the black tank top that shows off his arms, but he does a disappointingly strong job of not allowing himself to get distracted.
“Not for El Niño you're not.”
Ilya huffs. He already has the rest of his outfit picked out; he just likes to watch perpetually perfect, organised and early Shane squirm.
“You are no fun, Shane Hollander.”
“That's why you're marrying me.”
There's a sparkle of mischief in his eye, and Ilya's stomach does a little flip. And even though, really, it's none of Svetlana's business who he takes to bed, who he marries, that he is getting married, his heart starts to flutter. Anxiety. Hope. Love. Pain. They've known each other just about since they could walk, him and Sveta. She has held his secrets closer to her chest than even he has. She has been his only moon on so many dark nights, and it matters. Of course it matters.
(The way they held each other at the airport matters too. A little too close, a little too long. because they couldn't say it and they both knew.)
Ilya's eyes burn while he fusses with his cuff links, until Shane puts a gentle hand over his, and they fall still. Shane's eyes search his face for the things Ilya won't say.
“Good impression,” he manages, quietly.
Shane leans up and presses a soft kiss to his sad lips. His hand, for a moment, finds Ilya's heart, like maybe he's trying to remind him of the meaning of unconditional. But he says nothing, he doesn't pick the man apart. He simply secures the cuff links for him, tweaks his collar so it falls just so, and checks his phone.
“The driver is waiting,” he says. “Let's go.”
a taste of home
AN ~ The newly expanded Hollander Family shares their first Christmas dinner. Alternate summary: I'm feeling Emotional About Food and I'm making it Ilya's problem <3
Read on AO3 (~1000wd)
-
The people who give you their food,
give you their heart.
- Cesar Chavez
-
There's something so beautifully domestic about Ilya in the kitchen, bare feet dancing absently to Christmas songs and a Santa hat smushed onto his golden curls. If Shane was more of a smiling person, his cheeks would be hurting by now – let alone when his parents arrive, and Ilya embraces each of them with a kiss on the cheek, beaming from ear to ear.
“Devilled eggs!” Ilya cheers, taking the plate of offerings and passing them each a glass of wine. He laughs at the pun on David's shirt. “Shane Hollander, your parents are fun!”
heart like a house
AN ~ SKIP <3 hurt/comfort, set during Scott's first season 'out'. Being the first openly gay hockey player has its rough days. When they come, remember what's important. (tw; implied homophobia, incl. some internalised homophobia)
title and opening/summary quote from the absolutely gorgeous Heart like a House by Jenny Mitchell. I am. Obsessed.

heart like a house
Bibliographies, Kip thinks, might just be the bane of his existence. His laptop screen swims before his eyes after so many hours of unrelenting glare, but he rubs the sleep away, cracks open an ill-advised cold brew, and forces himself to keep plugging on. He's getting too old to pull all-nighters, but it's his own fault really; he's been so fucking distracted lately that the deadline has snuck up on him. Besides, he's already missed Scott's game tonight to smash out the body of the paper; he can't let a few footnotes and a trivial human need like sleep get in his way now.
Then Scott gets home, and Kip has an excuse to look up for a second, and the all-important order of brackets versus periods evaporates from his mind.
