Were any of these common things in fandom spaces before the epilogues??? Are there a bunch of fanfics made before the epilogues that have Rose cheating on kanaya with jade so that jade can have a daughter named something like fucking "yiffy" ????????????
By the splash screen on the Epilogues and the massive taglist, I'd wager on the darkfic side of places like AO3 and FFNet.

That's less of a HSBC/PQ problem and more of a modern fandom spaces think bullying people who disagree with their headcanons out of their hyperfixation is socially acceptable. It's definitely worse here than a lot of other fandoms, because Homestuck has always been cutthroat.

I hate how the fandom uses the epilogues and homestuck2 to harass others about headcanons but then conveniently start bringing up the dubious canonicity when they don't like the post canon material
You don't get to bring up post canon as the word of law for the parts you like then turn around and look away when you don't like it you either shut up and let others do whatever they want or you go away to your little post canon corner where you eat up everything they give you
The loudest parts of the new fandom follow behind a cluster of extremely loud, high-profile fandom bigwigs. All of whom are narcissistic enough to go digging for a post like this and assume it's about them specifically.

i kinda get really hostile vibes from the big homestuck discord. like not explicitly but more implicit and insidious (even if the regulars seem nice at first glance)
And I do not blame you. A lot of bigger Homestuck servers are weird and full of control freaks, and a lot of people believe the one you're referring to is the worst offender. The public climate of Homestuck as it stands allows for a lot of herd mentality coming from all sides, and there's a lot of rumor circulating around that certain high-profile individuals have attempted to usurp control of the biggest servers.
If you can find a server that doesn't live under the imperious thumb of what you've experienced so far, you grab that shit and only let go if something happens that's bad for your health or sanity.
funny thing about fandom going into a ragefest every time someone makes a lukewarm take or crack theory is that they're so self-unaware that they take the obvious fandom stand-in trolls completely seriously while also behaving exactly like them
i think the current fandom is way too toxic for its own good. it was always cartoonishly awful, but at least it was funny back then to see people make bad faith takes and then subsequently get their toxic traits portrayed to a t in the alpha trolls. ever since the toblerone wishes, all we get are toxic newcomer ipad baby fujos from bluesky. trust me, ipad baby fujos are worse than deviantart or newgrounds fujos.
