8 each? fuck. Okay, I don’t think I’m going to pause very often while reading this to post. The sooner this shit gets good the better.
M27 ‘Real fucking mature’
hahahaha ooh boy I’m enjoying this!
Also, I love the little touch where the Muse of Space treats flesh as a detail worthy of note. Just a nice touch of defamiliarization. *chef kiss*

i think it's already been hammered out at this point in meat but, remember that Bro/beta dirk is pretty much always an asshole in all timelines, but also necessarily is a flavor of dirk that would be in an ultimate dirk, on top of the various minor dirk splinters into robots and eventually lord english that are also going to play a part. and well, alpha dirk struggles quite hard to avoid his impulses to being a dick "on his own" before he even tries to go the route of ultimate and has all this other pull, yknow?
I suppose that makes a certain sense, but... hm. I suppose I have to be content with that, but there is a certain je ne sais quoi about this particular brand of assholery, or perhaps simply seeing the assholery from the inside, as it were, which feels novel, and I wish that I could get into the guts of its genesis.
Meat 19
So, I was spoiled for this reveal. It is an interesting move, a new development for the character. It could be pretty interesting to see where this goes. I don’t recall many people having this theory back when this dropped, so it does not seem like a reaction to fan input the way June almost seemed to.
I have to admit I found the trans woman Roxy headcanon rather appealing and was disappointed when I was spoiled about this, but of course that’s just the ol’ brain bullshit. they aren’t even necessarily incompatible readings of her character; some folk who come out as trans women later realize that they are nonbinary, after all. I was a little pissy at first because it made Roxy a little less like me. But that’s just my bullshit as I said.
I find it pretty funny how Dirk reacts to it, though. You can tell it grinds him so bad that he wasn’t able to predict this. He’s scrambling to adapt to this and he hates that.
Meat Postscript
Well, I made it to the end of the meat route. I think I’m getting a little fried, because a lot of that last bit isn’t sinking in. Aradia’s out there, Callie’s drawing some things, probably from the candy timeline, and there’s a Davebot. And Aradia leaves Sollux in the black hole world? maybe? forever? That seems odd. and Englishbattle!Jade is there too.
The hole leaves behind an absence in the sky so calm that continuing to call it a sky wouldn’t seem to do it justice. It’s a perfectly neutral expanse into which anything one can imagine might be summoned. And for a while, anything was. But not anymore. Where the hole gaped just moments ago, there now exists an imaginary line.
Above this line resides all that matters. Below exists all else. Never again the twain shall meet.
Hmm. that sounds bad.
I found this particular passage very sonically pleasing, so I thought I’d record myself reading it. I think my chest voice conveys ‘smug asshole’ rather well.
