hello everyone ! we asked about the future of hshq on the discord server some days ago. a few of you shared your opinions and we discussed the future a bit more.

hshq is our dearest baby and honestly a way of life at this point. activity has been quite low for some time now and that's partly because of our member count having gone down and all of us being busy adults. we figured the best way to continue hshq would be to get rid of our activity rule and give it a small tweak: instead of regular activity checks, we have a bimonthly interest check so we know who's still around and wants to be around. obviously if you post regularly, you don't need to really worry about the checks but if you haven't posted anything in two weeks, give the interest check post a like or a comment ! so instead of keeping track of activity of every character, we only care about the member's activity and desire to stay in our group <3

that's not the only change we're making though ! we were thinking about turning into an indie hub kind of a group ? basically more freedom for the members when it comes to characters: we're removing our character limit and we're getting rid of the full app for our current members. new applicants still have to fill it out but old members can just drop the appless form in our ask box and get accepted automatically. we figured this might be a good change and people can have a wide range of plotlines and can get involved in pretty much each and every major plotline they wanna get involved in.

even though it's easier to app for a new character and we don't expect the same level of activity and wide range of connections, we hope that no one goes crazy and takes on more characters than they can handle !

those are the changes for now, let's see how things go and we'll adjust as we go <3 if you have any questions, send them in !

it’s time for our biannual ooc post from admin evy (not good old regular evy), meaning you must read it. 

it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone here that we do surveys at least twice a year and our intentions with them are to make everyone’s experience in this group a good one. the best we can possibly offer. and when we get a thousand praises for things like the hijacking of threads because it promotes, as you all like to put, interaction between characters that normally aren’t written together and we combine it with a big number of the survey answers being that we should do more things with the same finality, we obviously assume that’s what you want. especially when the majority of the group votes for the return of the para partners task and actually signs up for it. now, it’s very hard for us to believe that you were truly interested in something like that instead of only saying it when we go through all the work of putting it together and not one person actually participates. but this isn’t the first nor second time this has happened, the four times we’ve done this task (all of them by request by the way) it would either have to be one of the admins to make the first starters so people would follow suit or, as it happened in the last two, only the participating admins would actually start their paras (the reason i told both j and e we should not participate this time because we already expected this outcome). with that being said, we will not be doing this task again no matter how many of you request it because it is really frustrating when you guys demand something from us but aren’t willing to do your tiny little part in it. i actually enourage you to post your para starters now since it’s your last chance to do it. at least here.

TEXT & TRANSLATIONS

in such a diverse group, we’re so glad to be seeing our members incorporating a range of languages in writing. what i’ve come to notice, however, is that the translations get a bit muddled when using the link option provided by the rich text editor. to fix this is really simple, so we’ve put together a little guide for you all!

1. switch the text editor to HTML

2. paste the following where your text & translation should be:

          <a title="TRANSLATION">the text in other language</a>

doing this will make it so much easier for everyone to keep up with your threads so we’d really appreciate it. we’re loving the enthusiasm though, and can’t wait to keep stalking your interactions!

THE HOLIDAY HIATUS is upon us again ! the hiatus starts on the 22nd of december and ends on the 2nd of january ! our first activity check will be on the 9th of january, make sure you’ve done your replies of the week by then ! we’ll start the✨  NYE ✨ event on the 2nd ! the admins will be around to answer questions etc. despite the hiatus ! enjoy the holiday season without having to worry about rping <3

to everyone participating in the advent calendar, please pay attention to the deadlines of each task, you cannot claim points for posting the tasks if you’ve missed the deadlines. let’s play fair.

happy new year ! we are announcing a two-month-long POINT SYSTEM COMPETITION. we have a list of prompts that are worth points. you do them, you earn points. we have the google docs and the sheets for the points — so once again, it’s up to you to keep track of your points ! the game starts TODAY and ends on the 28th of MARCH. you can claim points only once for each prompt unless there’s some sort of a denominator.

the top FIVE players will get to decide which FIVE characters play an instrumental role in an up-coming event ! the winners will get to hear the plans for the event before it happens so they can make an educated decision. every winner gets to give us three names and we’ll choose a character from those three options.

with whopping 15 of our players on a hiatus because of summer plans, we've decided to give everyone a summer break from hshq ! we're going on a hiatus for TWO WEEKS ( 20.06.-03.07. ). you are free to continue rping normally but we will not be conducting any activity checks for two weeks ! hopefully more people will be around again in july and we'll see lots of juicy drama on the dash !

LET THE GAMES BEGIN 

With a brand new location and a month of events ahead comes a new prompts competition. you have until the 1ST OF SEPTEMBER to collect as many point as you can, following THIS LIST. you may also suggest prompts to the admins, each suggestion gives you 1 point and you can get a maximum of 6 points by sending prompts. members must be counting and keeping tabs of their own points, using THIS SPREADSHEET. the winner will get to make a big decision on our next plot drop. be chaotic, have fun and may the most creative mun win !
