Day 4 of #htlmpchallenge3 and it's #ThrowbackThursday! ⏪ We're meant to post our first shop piece, but you've all seen Valak, and Slimer, aaaand my first cactus piece enough times, so I am going WAAAAAY back to the 90s when my nan bought me THIS "Get Set!" Needle Arts kit! 🧵🪡 Who remembers these?! I also had the candle one, and a couple of others, (maybe some sort of oven clay?!), but this little kit was my first step toward learning to stitch! I'd sit in my nan's kitchen when she was knitting, getting my threads in a tangle and permanently asking her to thread my needle and undo stitches for me. Looking back, it was probably really frustrating for her, (she's blind in one eye!), but she always had the patience to sit and help me. And of course, her old fashioned Quality Street and biscuit tins with sewing supplies and random buttons were always on hand for any extras I'd want to add 😂 I'm lucky that she's still here now, and a big supporter of what I do. In fact, she's the only family member who's ever taken anything I do seriously - probably because she knows the amount of work that goes into anything handmade! She's also quite brutally honest, so I know where to go if I ever need a firm opinion on anything 😂 The funny thing is; when I got this kit, I never would have dreamed that stitching and creating things was going to be my future.
