I know Kyo is more of a support time of fighter but I’d LOVE her in a 1v1 against Hanzo, or much much much later, Sasori.

I do get where you're coming from, but the way I'm writing HtS, any 1v1 fight is extremely unlikely, and if it happens, something has gone seriously wrong on many fronts.

And like, both sides showing up alone? Haha, no. If you end up in a fight alone, that is because your teammates are dead and you are now facing multiple opponents and you are not in for a good time, that you are not likely to walk away from

Again, I do get where you're coming from and I'm extremely AWARE of both the Naruto fandom's propensity of doing this, and the fact Naruto is a Shounen manga, which... says everything really. It's what the show is all about, I know, I know. But it's not the way I'm writing about it :)

Hi hi! I'm extremely fond of HtS, I've read it about three times now, & I recently started learning how to make books... so... I started thinking... what if... :D :D :D

I know from your ao3 profile you're okay with your work being bound, but I was wondering, as HtS is such a chonky long story, do you have any opinions on the best way to break it into (novel-length-ish) volumes? I was thinking a first break after ch30, before Anbu starts, might make sense, but I was curious how you think about the story's structure!

Oh, this is such an interesting ask! Hmmm. I will admit that I haven't ever thought about dividing it up into shorter sections. In my mind it's more... chapters 1-69 as more one part, though I realise that would be hefty as one book 😅And then the next part is chapter 70 to somewhere around 150, probably? 🤔and then the last section is from around there to the end of the fic? WHICH HASN'T BEEN WRITTEN YET, BUT YOU KNOW!!!

Anyway, chapters 1-30 sounds like an excellent start, and I am definitely cheering you on! I hope it goes well and I'd love to see the finished product (or even UNfinished!) if you ever feel like sending me a picture! 👀🥰

I’ve been re reading HtS and I’m crying over Isshun’s death. It’s been years since I found this story, when it was was around chapter 114 I think, but Kyo’s grief affects me after all this years all the same

I just found it and I now love love love hear the silence, is there an update schedule I can follow? Also what inspired you to write this fic? And what was the biggest plot change/thing you didn't see coming when you started it?

I usually try to update once per month. This month won't see an update, though, seeing as I am recovering from an emergency surgery and have been feeling very poorly the last few months, and have thus not written much. Hopefully, i should recover without much problems from here.

Hmm, my inspiration for starting HtS. It's been a while now, but... I have a friend, who was writing an SI fic and it was very unlike any other kind I had ever stumbled across in the wild. I was intrigued by her approach to the subject and quite spontaneously decided to give it a try for myself! I had never been interested in SI stories before, which is a bit amusing at this point. Either way, Hear the Silence grew quite exponentially and I was completely captivated and now it's been been almost 8 years XD

The biggest thing I didn't see coming.... to be entirely honest? How much people seem to like it. How popular HtS has gotten. I was very sure when I started writing that this would be very niche and very much different from what this fandom is used to and I wrote it - and still write it - entirely after my own heart, interests and inclinations! I didn't think there would be many people along for the journey other than myself and my friends, but it has been absolutely incredible to be proven wrong.

I know this wasn't quite what you asked, you asked about plot changes, but I have always had a relatively clear picture where this story is going and the broad strokes of things 😊Perhaps Katsurou is the biggest surprise, though. The only thing I knew about this man when I started writing him was that he was a Yamanaka and his general temperament/personality, and everything else has slowly been revealed to me as it has become relevant, and I don't think I had any idea just how important he would end up becoming to Kyo and to the story overall, when he first stepped into that Academy classroom to collect his team.

This is the same anon as before. Thanks a million for the thorough reply! That's so interesting about Katsurou/how spontaneous the fic's initial creation was. I definitely think Katsurou's one of the most interesting characters so the fact he developed so naturally out of the course of the story's progression is very cool. I also wish you all the best recovering from your surgery. I hope you have a lot of good fics to read and enjoy while you convalesce <3

Honestly, most of my characters come to be by chance. Kaimaru was just supposed to be a random, one-time, background asshole from the beginning, but then he elbowed his way back into things.

I just made up Hyena on the spot without any particular plans for him.

Same with Aita and Honoka, and there's a very long list, actually.

I create new characters when and where I need them and then they develop from there. It works very well for me, and I find it interesting. It's like I'm slowly getting to know them the more I write about them.

I was rereading HTS and got to where Kyo's waiting for Minato to wake up....

Does Kyo have any sort of emotion when she wakes up alone? Or is it like, "Oh, okay, more sleep" ???

Just in general? Hm

I think it very much varies. A lot of the time, she's fine, these days, she's doing pretty well now.

But if she's been having dreams/nightmares? There will definitely be days where waking up will be less pleasant and there might even be some panic involved
