How to restore factory settings for Huawei ONTs?
Recently many friends asked me how to restore the factory setting for Huawei ONTs, here I list the steps of restoring ONTs, use either of the following methods to restore factory settings for an ONT:
1, Choose System Tools > Restore Default Configuration from the main menu on the web page and click Restore Default Configuration.
2, Hold down the RESET button for a long period of time (longer than 10s) to restart the ONT with factory settings.

Repeated Ring on SIP Client due to MxU system parameter setting in MA5620 when NOTIFY is received on the SIP CLIENT
Issue Description
SIP User on MDU get a call and it is automatically disconnected
Fault symptoms : random ring on all sip extension on mdu

Capture on ONT show a similar NOTIFY message on ONT but Huawei ONT did not respond
Handling Process
1. check the MWI parameter on both the device (ONT Huawei HG8245A and MDU)
2ONT (Huawei HG8546M) profile body parameter for MWI is
6=0 which means disabled
3. MDU system parameter 3 = 1
When parameter name is 3, it indicates the mode of the message waiting indicator. The range for parameter value is 0-2.
§ 0: high voltage.
§ 1: FSK and ringing.
§ 2 FSK with no ringing.
§ Default: 1
4. change the parameter 3 = 2 so that there is no ringing on receiving the NOTIFY message
Root Cause
MDU by default send FSK and Ringing on getting MWI packet that is NOTIFY message
MDU system parameter 3 = 1
When parameter name is 3, it indicates the mode of the message waiting indicator. The range for parameter value is 0-2.

Solution
Change the system parameter 3 on mdu
change the parameter 3 = 2 so that there is no ringing on receiving the NOTIFY message.

A: 1. The GPON protocol shows that the GPON upstream and downstream frames are transmitted at the fixed frequency of 125 us and the upstream bandwidth is 1.24432 Gbit/s, equaling 19440 bytes/s, Huawei GPON service board. 2. The terminal reports the data to be transmitted through the DBRu field of the upstream frame. 3. The GMAC chip on the CO side translates this field, obtains the requested bandwidth value, and finds out the Huawei ONT and TCONT from which this report comes. 4. The bandwidth is allocated according to the bandwidth usage and the parameters of the DBA profile bound to the corresponding TCONT of the Huawei OLT. The allocated bandwidth in the result uses a start byte and a stop byte. The range of the start byte and the stop byte is 0 to 19440 bytes (bandwidth of the upstream frames). 5. The allocation result is applied in BWMAP of the downstream frame. After receiving the downstream frame, the terminal translates the data in BWMAP, finds out the byte sections corresponding to its own TCONT, and then transmits the data through the next upstream frame according to the allocation result.

Handling Process
A: Run the interface epon command to enter the EPON mode. Run the ont modify [portid] [ontid] encrypt on command to enable the Huawei ONT encryption function.
Run the display ont info [portid] [ontid] command to query the configuration of the Huawei ONT. The encryption status of the ONT is on.

Customer find that, when HG850a works under Router mode, PPPoE can not be connected, while under Bridge mode it is OK. Upgrade the HG850a to the latest version, problem still exist. HG850a version: V100R001C07SPC008 Huawei OLT version: V800R007C00SPC300 BMS version: V200R012C05SPC135

Handling Process
1.Since it is OK under bridge mode, it means the config of BRAS is OK, problem should be on the OLT or Huawei ONT. 2.Set the ONT as Router and Bridge mode separately, and capure the trace on the uplink of OLT. Under bridge mode, PADI packet is captured; but under Router mode, there is no any PADI packet, it means HG850a did not send the PADI packet under Router mode, which casued PPPoE can not establish. 3.Check the config file of OLT and HG850a, no fault is found. For further analysis, check the HG850a WAN status by the OLT internal channel: 59-PERM-TEST-O3(su)%% an0 576 root 416 S dhcpc -i wan0 -I wan0 577 root 416 S dhcpc -i wan0 -I wan0 757 root 616 S dhcps There is only one DHCP WAN, but no PPPoE WAN, but on the WEB interface we can see there are 2 WAN: one is DHCP, the other is PPPoE WAN. 4. It is very strange, we dicided to check the XML file more carefully, and found the two WAN ports were using the same WAN ID, both are "1" : On the BMS, we can see that more clearly: As the second WAN ID the same as the first one, the second WAN port(PPPoE) can not start. As a result, PPPoE can not be established. 5. Change the XML manually, to make the WAN ID different. After that, PPPoE can be established under Router mode too. 6. But problem can not be closed here, need to know how can the 2 WAN ports get the same WAN ID. Customer did not set it, and there is no where to set the WAN ID on ONT (HG8546M), OLT (MA5683T)or BMS. 7. Take a review of the customer's service-providing process, find that cusotmer bind one VAS profile to generate the XML file, the VAS profile is from other BMS, did not match the customer's BMS, can not understand all the HG850a nodes, and the same 2 WAN ID appears. 8. Till now the problem is clear and located, VAS profile mismatch BMS, lead to the same 2 WAN ID, and then lead to the second WAN can not be started, and cause the PPPoE can not be established. So, the final solution is to create one VAS profile on BMS manually, the parameter can be the same as before, and then bind the new VAS profile to the ONT, problem can be solved. PS. You can find the following in the attachment: configrations of OLT and ONT, network scheme, trace of OLT uplink.

ONT-> MA5600T(GPBC)-> Switch ->AX4000(traffic generator)->ONT.
When do the ONT DEMO, we found some FCS error in the downstream, but there is no packet loss.

Handling Process
As there is only FCS error, we think it is physical line problem. 1, Change the optical spliter from two level to one level, the problem remains. 2, Change teh GPBC board and other type of Huawei ONT, the problem
remains.
3, Change the uplink port from switch to AX4000, the problem remains. 4, To check if it is software problem, collect the configuration and AX4000 test result. 5, When the customer to remove the devices we found the cable between ONT and AX4000 has some problem. The order of the cable is not OK, so we changed another cable and test again. The problem disappears.
Root Cause
As the order of network cable has some problem, there is no packet loss but FCS error.
Suggestions
When there is FCS error but no packet loss, please check the physical line first, if there is no problem in the physical, then check the configuration or software.

Handling Process
1. Check the parameters of Both modem and Huawei MA5616. 2. Change the interface Parameters to PPPOA LLC. encapsulation 0/4/12 vpi 8 vci 35 type pppoa llc 3. enable the pppoa globally. PPPOA enable 4. Change the uplink vlan attribute from stacking to common. 5. delpoy the services again. The modem is online and the internet is fine.
Root Cause
1. MA5616 can discover the Modem automatically but found out the MAC address is not in the pool which defined on Huawei MA5616. 2. Modem did not get MAC from MA5616 mac pool. 3. Maybe the parameters of modem and MA5616 interface is not cordinate. 4. Modem can get MAC from MA5616 MAC pool but still cannot access internet.
Suggestions
It will be better to make the modem and MA5616 can negociate parameters automatically.
