......in fact, i greatly dislike how normalized it is to ridicule any attempt at trying to improve one's situation when it comes to tech.

people who make fun of others for trying out independent social media sites like cohost, mastodon, pillowfort.

lumping "linux users" together and ostracizing them as a whole.

mocking people who are critical of facebook's data scraping, because they still use google.

there is already an immense social pressure to rely on technologies that are actively detrimental to one's health ("i want to leave twitter because it's full of toxicity and nazis, but all of my friends use it"). quit adding to this social pressure by pissing on people who are looking for alternatives and/or taking small steps to move away!
