Whenever I feel like slinky velvet sexy i sing off to the races to myself and feel super great I love Lana Del Rey she's got a voice like caramel. However, I feel like her 'I can't live without this guy I would literally rather be dead than be without him' thing is kind of a dangerous message? Idk, what are your thoughts?
I TRIED TO ANSWER THIS EARLIER BUT I WAS OUT AND MY PHONE DIED IM SO SORRY
okay anyway, my opinion on that song in particular, which I believe is based off the VERY controversial novel "Lolita" about a young girl in a relationship with an older man, so in this context, the song is meant to depict a relationship that isn't necessarily healthy?
Plus there is her image that she tries to uphold in every song, her 60's vibe and her raging daddy!kink where she WANTS men to treat her like a child. The song sort of talks about her love for him in an immature manner because she is taking on the role of a child who hasn't really aged enough to truly understand love?
So, in my opinion, it is a very dangerous message for young girls who look up to her because obviously women have their own agency outside of the men OR women they choose to date, however, this is the image she's trying to portray with her music, but she never claims it to be healthy, and as long as people are old enough to understand that that kind of relationship isn't healthy or safe, especially for young girls, then it can't be that harmful.
