Finn made his way to Sugar's apartment to pick her up for their date. He was so excited, even Mercedes saw it when h dropped Ava off at their place. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face even if he tried, because finally he was going on a date, with someone he knew, and knew he'd like. He walked up to her door, with flowers in hand, and rang the bell. When she emerged, he was beyond happy. "You look fantastic." He leaned in and kissed her sweetly, "I bought you these, I hope you like them." He couldn't stop staring, "Man, you really look amazing."
It felt like Sugar had been floating on air this whole day. And why shouldn't she feel that way? It was after all going to be her and Finn's first date. She just knew that it was going to be a great night, and she couldn't wait for him to come pick her up. Sugar dressed nicely for the night and waited for Finn to arrive. When he did, she smiled brightly as she opened the door for him. "You're prompt." She returned his kiss and took the bouquet from him with a smile, giving the flowers a whiff. "Thank you for the flowers and the compliment. You're going to make my cheeks burn if you don't stop staring though." She chuckled.
Finn smirked, "I don't like to keep a beautiful woman waiting." He watched as she took the flowers and game them a wiff, "You're welcome, they reminded me of you." He shrugged his shoulders, "I can't help it, you look incredible, and I can't stop staring, but I will do my best." He extended his arm to her, "So are you ready to go, Franco's awaits." He led her to the car, and opened the door for her, "M'lady..." He helped her inside before heading to his side and got in. "I have to admit, I have been thinking about this date all day." He turned on the car and headed to the restaurant.
"I like that mentality. It will definitely score you points with me because I hate it when a guy is late for a date, and you need to stop with the compliments. You're really going to make my cheeks burn." Sugar chuckled, set the bouquet down and took Finn's arm, "I'm more than ready to go." She let him lead the way to the car and open the door for her. After sliding inside and buckling in, she relaxed and smiled at his admission, "You're not the only one. I've been thinking about this date too." Her hand found his free one and she laced their fingers together.
Finn was glad to hear that Sugar was just as excited about their date like he was, "That's good to know, I would have been very embarrassed to hear that I was the only one." He laughed and continued the drive, "So how was your day? The babies didn't give you too much trouble did they? And when I say them, I mean Ava..." He laughed.
"Well, you don't have to worry. Turns out, you have company in that department." Sugar's smile was bright as they rode to the restaurant. She was really glad that she had agreed to go on this date. "My day was good. I didn't get peed on or puked on, so I call that a successful day, and you know that Ava was wonderful. You're lucky to have her, Finn. I've never seen a baby that's so well behaved and lovable."
"That's fine by me, you are good company to have." Finn smiled and reached over and took Sugar's hand in his. He listened to her talk about her day, and he had to laugh hearing that it was a good day, since she didn't get puked or peed on. "Well if that was a successful day, then that's great." He laughed, "I have been peed and puked on, so I know that it's not fun." He smiled hearing her gush over Ava, that made him feel good inside, "That's my baby....I am so blessed to have her." They arrived to the restaurant and went inside. They were quickly seated, and their drink order was taken, "So do you have a particular favorite here?”
"Yes, it's a blessing to have a day without incident." Sugar squeezed Finn's hand and smiled even brighter. "But there's a difference between you and I. Ava is your kid, you expect to be peed and puked on, I on the other hand choose to get peed and puked on. Maybe something is wrong with me." She giggled even more at the thought. "Your little girl is the best though." When they arrived, she walked into the restaurant hand in hand with Finn. She blushed at the admission and was so grateful that the hostess had arrived to show them to their seats. Finn pulled out her chair and she sat down. "Thank you..." She grabbed the menu, and smiled, "I don't even know why I pick up the menu, it's not like I really need it. I don't really have a preference, everything is good here, I could eat the whole restaurant if I'm hungry enough, so I hope you're ready to pay." She giggled again.
Finn laughed, Sugar was so smart and witty, he was already having a better time than any of those other dates he went on. "I guess you're right, but I don't think there's anything wrong with you. As a matter of fact, I think you're an incredible, kind hearted person, and I am so glad that you are watching my daughter." They looked over their menu, and he laughed, "I do the same thing, but I already know what I'm going to get when I come here...Lasagna!" He laughed and put his menu down, "It is so delicious here, and very hearty."
"Finn, you have got to stop with the compliments. I'm going to be as red as a tomato soon. But I'm really happy to be able to care for Ava, like I said, she's a good baby to watch after." Sugar smiled and despite feeling a little embarrassed by all the praises, she was glad that Finn too loved this place. "Lasagna is the best and by the way my stomach is rumbling, my belly agrees too." When the waiter arrived, she placed her order. She didn't want to order the same thing as Finn, so she ordered the Chicken Alfredo. "We can share. That would be so much more romantic." She winked at Finn and took a slow sip of her soda.
"Now that I know I can make you get red as a tomato, I can't stop now." Finn joked, but then smiled, "Ava loves you, she actually cries every time we leave the day care, she loves it there." He rubbed his belly, "I know, I love it! They give you a big portion, and if you like it so much, then I would be happy to share some with you as well." He licked his lips, "I love the Chicken Alfredo, I think this is going to be the best dinner ever." He actually blushed when she said it would be romantic to share a meal, "So you're a romantic huh?"
"You better stop, if my blood is continuously rushing to my face, there's no way I would be able to think or talk. It's no fun dating a zombie." Sugar chuckled, "Aww... I didn't know that she's that attached to me. Although I should have seen that coming, I mean she has no mother figure in her life." She bit her bottom lip when she realized what she had just said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make things awkward..." She sighed, and was slightly grateful when their appetizers were brought out. "The portions are big, but you can never go wrong with an appetizer, right?"
Fin laughed out loud, and threw up his hands, "Okay, okay, I will stop for now, but I can't promise that I won't slip in another compliment before the end of the night." He nodded, "Yes, she really does..." He sighed and dropped his head thinking about how much his ex leaving affected Ava, "That's true...." He shoo his head, "No need to apologize, it's true, she don't have a mother figure in her life, but we are doing the best we can." He smiled when the appetizers came out, "They are big, that's why I like this place." They both stopped talking and dug into the appetizer platter.
Sugar felt terrible for what she said. She didn't want to make it awkward between them, so she focused on the appetizer in front of her. "This is really delicious.." She commented after a few seconds. Things felt tense all of a sudden, and she knew that she had to break the ice between them before things got even more awkward. "I'm sorry, Finn. I know that Ava's mom is a sore subject for you. I wasn't thinking when I opened my mouth. I hope this didn't ruined our date, because I really like you and I like Ava too, and I really want to see where we can go from here."
It was definitely weird between Finn and Sugar at this point, but he wasn't going to let this ruin anything between them. THis was the first time he felt so good about a woman, and there was no way he was going to let his ex come between them. "You know what Sugar, I am not upset at all. Ava is much better without her and we ae doing just fine, so no need to tip toe around the subject of my ex." He took her hands in his, "No, you haven't ruined anything, this date is going to be a great as it started." He kissed her hands, and picked up her fork, and put a piece of cheese stick on it, and fed it to her.
Instant relief rushed into Sugar's body as she Finn reassured her that everything was alright. That was definitely what she needed to hear. She needed to know that things were going to be fine, and that her faux pas was not going to effect their date. She melted as he lifted her hands and kissed them. "Thank you, Finn..." She managed to say before he fed her a piece of cheese stick. She in turn did the same thing. They ended up feeding each other throughout dinner and having a great conversation, when they left the restaurant that night, she was actually a little disappointed because she didn't want the date to end. "Is it just me or did dinner flew past us tonight?" She asked as they made their way back to Finn's car with their hands clasped together.
There was no way Finn was going to let this date go south over something so trivial, so when they got past that moment, everything was great. The conversation went smoothly, and they shared their meal like they said they would. It was a great night so far, but it went by so quickly. They were heading to the car and he heard Sugar's comment, "It's not just you, everything went so fast. I don't know about you, I don't want this date to end, so do you want to go take a walk on the beach with me? I kinda like doing that, and it's a beach close to my friends house who's watching Ava, so we can pick her up afterwards."
Sugar really didn't want the date to end so quickly, and she was glad to hear that Finn didn't want it to end either. "You must be reading my mind because I don't want our night to end so quickly either. I would love to go to the beach. After all that food, we're going to have to walk it off, so why not do it at the beach right?" She pulled his hands closer to her and hasten her pace, "Now come one, let's get out of here." After Finn helped her into the car, they were off to the beach where they took a romantic stroll before picking Ava up. Finn dropped her off at her apartment, and she was smiling from ear to ear once they got there, "Thank you for tonight. It was really fun. You don't have to walk me to the door. Ava's asleep anyway." She looked back at Ava and smiled again.
The feeling of holding Sugar's hand was amazing, and Finn was not going to let her hand go any time soon. "Good, that means we are o the same wave length, so I am happy about that." He laughed at her comment about walking off the food, "We did eat quite a bit, but it was so good, it was worth it." They made their way to the beach, and had a great time walking and talking about everything they could think of. Once they made their way to Mercedes and Sam's house to pick up Ava, it was already late, so they quickly made their way to Sugar's apartment, and Ava was asleep, so Finn helped Sugar out the car, "Okay, I wouldn't feel comfortable walking you to the door leaving hr here, but I want to tell you that I had a great time tonight." He moved closer into her personal space, "This is the first time in a long time that I could say that on a date." He took her hand in his, pulling her closer to her, "So we have to do this again soon." It was silence between them, and he slowly placed his lips on hers. It was a slow and deliberate kiss, and then he deepened it, until they couldn't breath. He rested his head against her forehead, "Goodnight Sugar."
Sugar had such a great time with Finn, and she actually felt sad to have to end the date. She hadn't had this much fun with a man in really long time, if not ever, and she was really looking forward to spending even more time with Finn after this. "Yeah, there is no need for you to do that." They were both slow in getting out of the car, as if they didn't want to end the night. "I feel the same way too, and I'm looking forward to our future dates..." She looked down shyly, and only left that shy state behind her when Finn kissed her. Sugar reciprocated fully, putting her all into the kiss. "Mmm... That was the perfect kiss to end the perfect night." She told him with their foreheads pressed together. After a while, she knew she had to leave so she pulled back and gave Finn one last lingering kiss before saying, "Goodnight, Finn," and turning back to go back to her apartment.
