“That’s how our mentality should always be.” Sugar smiled, leaning over to give her husband another kiss. It was amazing that even after all these years, he was still able to sweep her off her feet. When she pulled back, she spotted Sam and Mercedes out of the corner of her eye. “There they are. Let’s go see what they’re up to.” She told her husband before letting him help her on her feet, and walking over to greet their friends.
“I’m sure she will be, and she’ll have you wrapped around her little finger just like Ava does.” Sugar teased. Finn was a great father. Both Adam and Ava adored and loved their dad’s, and she had grown to admire her husband even more because of this. “I love you too.” She returned the sentiment with a light kiss on his lips. “We’re still young. The kids are still young, I’m not going to think about the future just yet.” She smiled.
"I'm not ashamed to admit that." Finn stated proudly, he knew that his children were the apples in his eyes, and h would do anything he could for them. He worked so hard to move up in his company so he could support his family, and he didn't regret a minute of it. Hearing Sugar declare her love for him, only put him in a better mood than he already was. He knew without a shadow of a doubt that marrying Sugar was the best thing that ever happened to him. The way she stepped in and loved Ava like her own, was a joy to watch, and he loved her even more. "Fine, we won't think about that right now, all we have to worry about is taking care of our beautiful children, and each other." He smirked and wiggled his eyebrow.
“You’re right, we both hate managing money, so not having that much has been a blessing.” Sugar laughed. The truth was, having too much money could be a huge problem in itself, so she was glad for what she had today. “She did.” She nodded her head and smiled. “She’s going to one hell of a little lady.” Sugar stated with pride. Sure, they hadn’t planned on having this baby, but the moment she found out that she was pregnant, she felt the bond grow between her and the baby, and she couldn’t wait to have her. She ran her hands through Finn’s dark hair, and said, “I know. I love this. It’s unexpected but I wouldn’t change anything for the world.” She confessed. “Oh you know our kids aren’t college age yet, you need to stop thinking about it, baby…”
Finn was enthralled with the baby at the moment, feeling her kick because of his voice, just let him know, that she was going to be daddy's little girl, and he wouldn't have it any other way. "She is going to be my little princess." Finn beamed at the thought of having another little girl. Just thinking about how it was with he and Ava, and the joy she brought to his life, and then to be blessed with a little man in Adam, who is so protective of Sugar and Ava, that made him a proud father. Now with this new one on the way, his life felt so complete. "I love this, and I love you baby." He sat up and kissed her sweetly, and nodded, "No, we have a few more years left, but you know how times flies."
“We’re cool too, only we’re not as rich as they are.” Sugar giggled. The statement couldn’t be truer. Although they were hardly destitute–they lived in a nice neighborhood and had a nice nest egg–they weren’t nearly as rich as the Evans were. “No, I don’t need anything. Just sit down with me while we wait for Sam and Mercedes to get free.” She smiled then when their daughter kicked. “Oh, it seems like our daughter is happy to hear daddy’s voice. Feel…” She placed her husband’s hand on her belly and beamed.
"Yeah we are!" Finn nodded enthusiastically, but nodded at the fact that they are not as rich, "We do alright, but I honestly don't think I would want to be that rich. I have a problem taking care of the finances we have now." He laughed, and got more comfortable hearing Sugar say she didn't want anything. His face lit up hearing Sugar say that the baby kicked, "Did she?" When she put his hand on her belly, and he felt the baby kick, he was overjoyed, "You know what baby, this will never get old to me." He leaned over and kissed her stomach, "I know we didn't plan this baby, but you know I am so glad that we are having another baby. Soon Ava and Adam are going to be leaving soon, so having this baby is just prolonging our empty nest syndrome."
Sugar was smiling as she entered Sam and Mercedes’ home. The place had been decorated accordingly and there were a bunch of guests already milling around the place. Finding a spot on the sofa, she took a seat, and rubbed her seven months pregnant belly. “Knowing Sam, he always have to do things in style.” She chuckled, “But I do like how everything looks though. The twins are really lucky to have cool parents like Sam and Mercedes.”
Finn placed his hand on top of Sugar's protruding belly, "Yeah, this is way too flashy for the Cedes I know, but maybe Sam finally rubbed off on her, and she is just as stylish as he is, but you're right, they are cool parents, just like us....right?" He laughed and shook his head, "Do you need anything baby? Is my girl behaving herself in there?" He continued to rub her stomach. Â
Finn and Sugar made it to the party with Ava, and their son Adam in tow. They were greeted by Sam and Mercedes, before they had to go greet the other guest. He took her hand, and led her to the couch, "This is fancy huh? I mean for a graduation and all, but I like it." He smiled and rubbed her hand with his thumb.
Notes: Finn and Sugar have a great discussion about their relationship.
Finn had been a bit nervous all day, well really ever since he decided to propose to Sugar, whenever he was around her, he would get all nervous. He knew it was more excitement than anything, because he knew he loved Sugar, and she was perfect for him. She loved him and Ava, and that was huge for him. Seeing how they would interact in and out of the daycare just made this decision easier for him. These last few months have been the best, and he was ready to make things more permanent with her. He had brought the ring, and had it in his pocket when he made his way to Sugar's apartment. He knocked and waited for her to answer, and when she did, he smiled brightly, "How is it that every time I see you, you look more and more amazing?" He leaned in and kissed her sweetly.
Sugar couldn't stop smiling these days. Her life could only be described as perfect. She'd been dating Finn, who turned out to be a really great guy, and she was in love. The most wonderful part of all this was, he loved her back. Tonight, they had another date. As much as she loved Ava, she liked spending some quiet time with Finn too, so she made sure to have dinner ready and doll herself up before he arrived. When he did, she smiled at his complement, "I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm in love with this really amazing man?" She kissed his lips softly and smiled, "How was your day, baby? Did you miss me?"
Finn smiled after hearing Sugar's response, "Oh really? Sounds like a great guy, and I am sure this amazing guy loves you back, very much." He returned her kiss, and handed her the bouquet of roses he brought her, "These are for you." He walked inside her apartment, and led her to the couch, taking a seat, and sitting her on his lap, "My day has been great, Ava cooperated with me this morning, so of course as you know we made it to daycare on time. Then I got that promotion at work that I was telling you about, so my day has been great." He pulled her closer to him, "The only bad part of my day was being away from you, I missed you tremendously." He pulled her in for another kiss.
"Does he? That's always great to hear." Sugar giggles and accepted the roses from Finn. "Smells good, baby. Thank you for the flowers." She told him graciously as she took a seat on his lap and listen to him telling her about his day. Her jaw dropped when he said that he had been promoted. "Oh my God, baby! I'm so happy for you. You really deserved it." Her heart melted hearing his next words and she could help but fall in love with him just a little bit more. "I miss you too, so much. I wish we could spend all our time together, but I'm happy with what we have. As long as I have you and Ava, that's all that I'll ever need." She smiled and kissed him back sweetly.
"I can say for a fact that he does!" Finn smiled and was glad that she liked the flowers. "You are so welcomed, baby, they are beautiful just like you." He was so excited to tell her about his promotion, because it meant a lot for him, and their future. He knew this would mean a huge raise, and a way to take care of her as his wife. And knowing that he finally was able to do that, made his decision to propose easier for him. "Thanks baby, I've been working really hard, and it's great to be acknowledged by my bosses." The smile that came on Finn's face after hearing Sugar say she wanted to spend all their time together, because that's just what he had in mind, "You do huh? Well that's something we have to work on, because you know I want to give you everything you want and need." He smiled and rested his head against her forehead after their kiss, "So, did you really mean what you said? You would want to spend all our time together?"
Sugar lazily began drawing circles on Finn's chest. She was happiest when he was with her, and she couldn't deny when he questioned her. "I do. I would love to spend all my time with you, but I understand that you have a life and not to mention beautiful Ava to care for. If it was just you, I can assure you that you will never leave." She hummed lazily still drawing patterns on his chest. When he asked her his next set of questions, she sat up straighter to look into his eyes before answering, "Yes. I would want to, but that's not important. You probably think that I'm really clingy now, aren't you?" She chuckled.
Finn had this huge proposal planned, but it felt right to do it right now. Sugar was saying all the things that he felt in his heart, and why hold out any longer than he had too. He knew what he wanted, and Sugar was it. "I love the idea of spending all my time with you, that would make me a very happy man, and I think even with having Ava in my life would only make spending time with the both of you even better." He shifted her off his lap, and got up, "Oh I think it's very important, and no I don't think you're being clingy, what I think is that you are the most beautiful woman, and I am so lucky to have you in my life." He took her hand in his, "Sugar, I have something I want to ask you." He took a deep breath, "You know how much I love you right? And I can honestly say that these last few months have been the best months of my life. You have made me happier than I have ever been, and I didn't think I would be that way again after my ex, but you changed that. Ava loves you so much, and seeing you with her just makes me smile so bright, and I know you would be the perfect woman to have in her life." He then got on his knee, "So I say all that to say this..." He pulled the ring from his pocket, and opened the box, showing her the ring, "Sugar Motta, would you please do me the honor of marrying Ava and me?" He held his breath as he awaited her answer.
"I'm glad that you don't think I'm clingy." Sugar smiled at Finn and kissed his cheek. "I don't want you to think that I'm trying to monopolize all of your time, because I really am not." She was happily snuggled in Finn's arms when he pulled away. Frowning, she looked at him and asked, "What is it babe? What did you want to ask?" What happened next was totally unexpected. Finn had given her a heartfelt speech and then, he was proposing. She really should question the timing of his proposal. He did it right after their talk, but when she saw the ring, she knew right away that he was serious and that he had been thinking about this for a while now. Tears filled behind her eyes. Months ago, she didn't even have a boyfriend and now she was happily in love, and he just proposed to her. How could she say no to that? With her mind made up, she nodded vigorously and happily accepted his proposal. "Yes, I will marry you and I will so happily raise Ava as my own." Without much more to be said, she pulled him to her and kissed him deeply, putting all of her love into the kiss.
It felt like forever to get Sugar's answer, and Finn started to get nervous. Was it too soon? Did she not want to marry him? All those questions went through his head, and he was scared a no was sure to come. When she finally said yes, he felt a wave of relief come over him. And hearing her say that she would raise Ava as her own, did more for him than he thought possible, "Baby, I love you so much." He said after they pulled apart from their kiss, "You have no idea how happy you just made me, and I promise to make you never regret saying yes to marrying me." He pulled her back in for another kiss, and poured every ounce of love into it.
"I love you too, so very much." Sugar confessed, kissing Finn deeply, happy that thing were turning out for the better for the both of them. Once they had pulled back, she offered her hand to him so that he could slip the ring onto her ring finger. "This is a beautiful ring, baby. I will treasure it, just like I treasure you." She promised, kissing him again. With all of the happiness flowing in the room, she wanted to be made love to, so without saying much, she took the initiative to make love to her fiance. It was a beautiful night which they spent making love and professing their love to each other.
Finn made his way to Sugar's apartment to pick her up for their date. He was so excited, even Mercedes saw it when h dropped Ava off at their place. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face even if he tried, because finally he was going on a date, with someone he knew, and knew he'd like. He walked up to her door, with flowers in hand, and rang the bell. When she emerged, he was beyond happy. "You look fantastic." He leaned in and kissed her sweetly, "I bought you these, I hope you like them." He couldn't stop staring, "Man, you really look amazing."
It felt like Sugar had been floating on air this whole day. And why shouldn't she feel that way? It was after all going to be her and Finn's first date. She just knew that it was going to be a great night, and she couldn't wait for him to come pick her up. Sugar dressed nicely for the night and waited for Finn to arrive. When he did, she smiled brightly as she opened the door for him. "You're prompt." She returned his kiss and took the bouquet from him with a smile, giving the flowers a whiff. "Thank you for the flowers and the compliment. You're going to make my cheeks burn if you don't stop staring though." She chuckled.
Finn smirked, "I don't like to keep a beautiful woman waiting." He watched as she took the flowers and game them a wiff, "You're welcome, they reminded me of you." He shrugged his shoulders, "I can't help it, you look incredible, and I can't stop staring, but I will do my best." He extended his arm to her, "So are you ready to go, Franco's awaits." He led her to the car, and opened the door for her, "M'lady..." He helped her inside before heading to his side and got in. "I have to admit, I have been thinking about this date all day." He turned on the car and headed to the restaurant.
"I like that mentality. It will definitely score you points with me because I hate it when a guy is late for a date, and you need to stop with the compliments. You're really going to make my cheeks burn." Sugar chuckled, set the bouquet down and took Finn's arm, "I'm more than ready to go." She let him lead the way to the car and open the door for her. After sliding inside and buckling in, she relaxed and smiled at his admission, "You're not the only one. I've been thinking about this date too." Her hand found his free one and she laced their fingers together. Â
Finn was glad to hear that Sugar was just as excited about their date like he was, "That's good to know, I would have been very embarrassed to hear that I was the only one." He laughed and continued the drive, "So how was your day? The babies didn't give you too much trouble did they? And when I say them, I mean Ava..." He laughed.
"Well, you don't have to worry. Turns out, you have company in that department." Sugar's smile was bright as they rode to the restaurant. She was really glad that she had agreed to go on this date. "My day was good. I didn't get peed on or puked on, so I call that a successful day, and you know that Ava was wonderful. You're lucky to have her, Finn. I've never seen a baby that's so well behaved and lovable."
"That's fine by me, you are good company to have." Finn smiled and reached over and took Sugar's hand in his. He listened to her talk about her day, and he had to laugh hearing that it was a good day, since she didn't get puked or peed on. "Well if that was a successful day, then that's great." He laughed, "I have been peed and puked on, so I know that it's not fun." He smiled hearing her gush over Ava, that made him feel good inside, "That's my baby....I am so blessed to have her." They arrived to the restaurant and went inside. They were quickly seated, and their drink order was taken, "So do you have a particular favorite here?”
"Yes, it's a blessing to have a day without incident." Sugar squeezed Finn's hand and smiled even brighter. "But there's a difference between you and I. Ava is your kid, you expect to be peed and puked on, I on the other hand choose to get peed and puked on. Maybe something is wrong with me." She giggled even more at the thought. "Your little girl is the best though." When they arrived, she walked into the restaurant hand in hand with Finn. She blushed at the admission and was so grateful that the hostess had arrived to show them to their seats. Finn pulled out her chair and she sat down. "Thank you..." She grabbed the menu, and smiled, "I don't even know why I pick up the menu, it's not like I really need it. I don't really have a preference, everything is good here, I could eat the whole restaurant if I'm hungry enough, so I hope you're ready to pay." She giggled again.
Finn laughed, Sugar was so smart and witty, he was already having a better time than any of those other dates he went on. "I guess you're right, but I don't think there's anything wrong with you. As a matter of fact, I think you're an incredible, kind hearted person, and I am so glad that you are watching my daughter." They looked over their menu, and he laughed, "I do the same thing, but I already know what I'm going to get when I come here...Lasagna!" He laughed and put his menu down, "It is so delicious here, and very hearty."
"Finn, you have got to stop with the compliments. I'm going to be as red as a tomato soon. But I'm really happy to be able to care for Ava, like I said, she's a good baby to watch after." Sugar smiled and despite feeling a little embarrassed by all the praises, she was glad that Finn too loved this place. "Lasagna is the best and by the way my stomach is rumbling, my belly agrees too." When the waiter arrived, she placed her order. She didn't want to order the same thing as Finn, so she ordered the Chicken Alfredo. "We can share. That would be so much more romantic." She winked at Finn and took a slow sip of her soda.
"Now that I know I can make you get red as a tomato, I can't stop now." Finn joked, but then smiled, "Ava loves you, she actually cries every time we leave the day care, she loves it there." He rubbed his belly, "I know, I love it! They give you a big portion, and if you like it so much, then I would be happy to share some with you as well." He licked his lips, "I love the Chicken Alfredo, I think this is going to be the best dinner ever." He actually blushed when she said it would be romantic to share a meal, "So you're a romantic huh?"
"You better stop, if my blood is continuously rushing to my face, there's no way I would be able to think or talk. It's no fun dating a zombie." Sugar chuckled, "Aww... I didn't know that she's that attached to me. Although I should have seen that coming, I mean she has no mother figure in her life." She bit her bottom lip when she realized what she had just said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make things awkward..." She sighed, and was slightly grateful when their appetizers were brought out. "The portions are big, but you can never go wrong with an appetizer, right?"
Fin laughed out loud, and threw up his hands, "Okay, okay, I will stop for now, but I can't promise that I won't slip in another compliment before the end of the night." He nodded, "Yes, she really does..." He sighed and dropped his head thinking about how much his ex leaving affected Ava, "That's true...." He shoo his head, "No need to apologize, it's true, she don't have a mother figure in her life, but we are doing the best we can." He smiled when the appetizers came out, "They are big, that's why I like this place." They both stopped talking and dug into the appetizer platter.
Sugar felt terrible for what she said. She didn't want to make it awkward between them, so she focused on the appetizer in front of her. "This is really delicious.." She commented after a few seconds. Things felt tense all of a sudden, and she knew that she had to break the ice between them before things got even more awkward. "I'm sorry, Finn. I know that Ava's mom is a sore subject for you. I wasn't thinking when I opened my mouth. I hope this didn't ruined our date, because I really like you and I like Ava too, and I really want to see where we can go from here."
It was definitely weird between Finn and Sugar at this point, but he wasn't going to let this ruin anything between them. THis was the first time he felt so good about a woman, and there was no way he was going to let his ex come between them. "You know what Sugar, I am not upset at all. Ava is much better without her and we ae doing just fine, so no need to tip toe around the subject of my ex." He took her hands in his, "No, you haven't ruined anything, this date is going to be a great as it started." He kissed her hands, and picked up her fork, and put a piece of cheese stick on it, and fed it to her.
Instant relief rushed into Sugar's body as she Finn reassured her that everything was alright. That was definitely what she needed to hear. She needed to know that things were going to be fine, and that her faux pas was not going to effect their date. She melted as he lifted her hands and kissed them. "Thank you, Finn..." She managed to say before he fed her a piece of cheese stick. She in turn did the same thing. They ended up feeding each other throughout dinner and having a great conversation, when they left the restaurant that night, she was actually a little disappointed because she didn't want the date to end. "Is it just me or did dinner flew past us tonight?" She asked as they made their way back to Finn's car with their hands clasped together.
There was no way Finn was going to let this date go south over something so trivial, so when they got past that moment, everything was great. The conversation went smoothly, and they shared their meal like they said they would. It was a great night so far, but it went by so quickly. They were heading to the car and he heard Sugar's comment, "It's not just you, everything went so fast. I don't know about you, I don't want this date to end, so do you want to go take a walk on the beach with me? I kinda like doing that, and it's a beach close to my friends house who's watching Ava, so we can pick her up afterwards."
Sugar really didn't want the date to end so quickly, and she was glad to hear that Finn didn't want it to end either. "You must be reading my mind because I don't want our night to end so quickly either. I would love to go to the beach. After all that food, we're going to have to walk it off, so why not do it at the beach right?" She pulled his hands closer to her and hasten her pace, "Now come one, let's get out of here." After Finn helped her into the car, they were off to the beach where they took a romantic stroll before picking Ava up. Finn dropped her off at her apartment, and she was smiling from ear to ear once they got there, "Thank you for tonight. It was really fun. You don't have to walk me to the door. Ava's asleep anyway." She looked back at Ava and smiled again.
The feeling of holding Sugar's hand was amazing, and Finn was not going to let her hand go any time soon. "Good, that means we are o the same wave length, so I am happy about that." He laughed at her comment about walking off the food, "We did eat quite a bit, but it was so good, it was worth it." They made their way to the beach, and had a great time walking and talking about everything they could think of. Once they made their way to Mercedes and Sam's house to pick up Ava, it was already late, so they quickly made their way to Sugar's apartment, and Ava was asleep, so Finn helped Sugar out the car, "Okay, I wouldn't feel comfortable walking you to the door leaving hr here, but I want to tell you that I had a great time tonight." He moved closer into her personal space, "This is the first time in a long time that I could say that on a date." He took her hand in his, pulling her closer to her, "So we have to do this again soon." It was silence between them, and he slowly placed his lips on hers. It was a slow and deliberate kiss, and then he deepened it, until they couldn't breath. He rested his head against her forehead, "Goodnight Sugar."
Sugar had such a great time with Finn, and she actually felt sad to have to end the date. She hadn't had this much fun with a man in really long time, if not ever, and she was really looking forward to spending even more time with Finn after this. "Yeah, there is no need for you to do that." They were both slow in getting out of the car, as if they didn't want to end the night. "I feel the same way too, and I'm looking forward to our future dates..." She looked down shyly, and only left that shy state behind her when Finn kissed her. Sugar reciprocated fully, putting her all into the kiss. "Mmm... That was the perfect kiss to end the perfect night." She told him with their foreheads pressed together. After a while, she knew she had to leave so she pulled back and gave Finn one last lingering kiss before saying, "Goodnight, Finn," and turning back to go back to her apartment.
“Oh, so you haven’t done the deed?” Mercedes asked with a chuckle, “You are so going to break that poor little thing once you get your hands on her. I pity her. Go easy on her, alright?” She couldn’t help but tease Finn, he was such a great sport about it too. “You better go get your baby. Go have your first date and when you’re free, come over. I’m sure Sam would like to meet Sugar too. Now, off you go. I’m going to enjoy my day before everyone comes home.” She walked him to the door, waved at him and went to relaxed in the living room while she waited for her family to get home.
“I really like how everything turned out, Finn. You definitely can’t fight fate. I have a great feeling that Sugar is it for you. She’s going to love Ava and you too. When I saw that look in your eyes when she walked into the cafe, I knew that she was it, and I’m so glad that you stopped fighting your feelings.” Mercedes was smiling from ear to ear, she was beyond happy for her friend. “Okay, fine. I had a hand in this. Are you happy now?” She chuckled, “So, when are you going to bring Sugar over? I’m sure you’re all into keeping her in the sack, but you have to let her breathe and meet your friends too.”
Finn was blushing hearing that Mercedes could tell how much he liked Sugar, "I know, and I wish I wouldn't have wasted time dating those other woman, and just asked Sugar out in the first place." He was actually giddy just thinking about the possibilities with he and Sugar. He smiled, "Yes I'm very happy, because there is no way I am going to let you not take the credit for this." He scoffed, "Really Mercedes? We haven't even had our first date yet, but I'll bring her over whenever you want to, just let me know when you and Sam are free." He looked down at his watch, "Shoot! If I don't leave now I am going to be late picking Ava up, and I don't want to have to pay extra for her staying longer....and I get to see my lady, so that's a great thing." He smirked and stood up to leave.
Mercedes felt giddy for Finn. She already knew that he liked Sugar. There was no way that he didn’t like Sugar. She had seen the way he looked at the other woman. It was as if he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. “Well, I could have told you that a long time ago, but did you want to listen? Nope. I’m glad you got your senses back though. Sugar is good for you. Plus, we already know that she loves Ava. It’s a win/win if you ask me…” She waved a hand at him, “It wasn’t much of a problem at all. You needed someone and I was willing to help.”
Finn smiled and nodded his head, everything Mercedes was saying was true, "I know that you told me, and I was trying to fight it, but it just got to a point where I just couldn't fight it anymore. It just seemed like fate that we kept running into each other after all the bad dates I went on, I just had to give in and ask her out. And knowing that she loves Ava is the thing that just made it so much easier to finally give into my attraction to her." He grabbed her hand, "Don't play it down, you helped me find a great woman, and I feel very good about this relationship."
Mercedes rolled her eyes at Finn and said, “Yeah, yeah… Don’t take advantage of me, that’s not nice.” She was actually really curious as to the identity of the woman in question. So far, he hadn’t been happy with the blind dates that she had sent him to, so she didn’t know if he had met someone else in the process. When he told her that it was Sugar, her eyes widened, “I knew it! I knew you liked her! Whatever happened to keeping it professional, huh?” She chuckled, “I’m happy for you, Finn. Sugar seems sweet, and from that look on your face, I can tell that you really like her.”
Finn laughed, "Cedes! I would never do that." He smirked, as he teased her. He knew she was going to get in to liking Sugar, after he made a huge deal of saying that he was keeping things professional. "Well that went out the window after we kept running into each other after every bad date I had, and we hung out and we just clicked." He was relieved that she was happy for him, "Thanks Cedes, and I owe this all to you, because I would have never gotten out there if it wasn't for you."
“You did disturb me a little, but I’m fine.” Mercedes smiled and waited for Finn to speak up. She was a little surprised when he told her that he no longer needed her services. She stared at him for a minute before she snapped back to the present and asked, “Wait, are you dating someone else? Is that what you’re telling me?”
"Oh my bad, but since you love me, it's okay." Finn laughed and made himself comfortable. He knew she would be shocked to hear that he was dating someone, "I have met someone, Â and I'm happy with her, so I don't want to go on another blind date, I don't need to anymore." He smiled thinking about Sugar, and the night they had. "You actually met her....it's Sugar.'
Mercedes was looking forward to this relaxing afternoon. Poe was out helping Ian look at a few properties, and Nell had taken the twins and Ciara back to their parents place. She was just about to put her legs up when a knock came at the door. Groaning, she went to open the door. She was surprised to see Finn at the other side. “Finn, what are you doing here?” She asked, surprised at his sudden appearance. Ushering him inside, she went to take a seat. “So what’s going on, Finn?”
Finn walked inside, "I hope I didn't disturb you, but I just wanted to say thank you for all your help on the whole dating thing, but I'm happy to tell you that your services are no longer needed." He smiled brightly, and smiled at the look on her face, "Why the look Cedes? I hope that's a happy face..." He chuckled.
Finn made his way to Mercedes' place, he was really excited to tell her the good news.He knocked on the door, and smiled when she answered, "Hey Cedes, can I come in? We need to talk." He smiled and made his way to the living room and took a seat.
Notes: Finn and Sugar runs into each other at the store after both have a bad night.
Finn was starting to think these dates Mercedes was setting him up on was a bad idea. Tonight's date was a little too clingy, asking him about their future together, and she actually wanted to meet Ava tonight. That was a huge red flag, and he promptly ended that date. He went to the store to buy a few things Ava needed, and some junk food for his movie he was going to watch tonight, because Mercedes and Sam had Ava for the night, so he was going to catch up on a movie. He was in the ice cream aisle, when he saw a familiar face, "Hey Sugar, how are you?"
Sugar was feeling rather lonely tonight. It didn't start out that way, but when she bumped into her ex who was now happily married and had a baby on the way, she suddenly felt like she was going to die an old maid. When she felt this way, she normally binged on ice cream and watched romantic comedies until she passed out for the night. Tonight however, her ice cream supply was low, so she had to run to the store. Once she was at the grocery store, she bee lined straight to the ice cream aisle. Phish Food, here I come... She had just grabbed the tub when she heard her name being call. She looked to her right and immediately smiled seeing Finn there. "Hey, Finn..." Her smiled faltered a little at his question, "I'm doing okay... How are you?"
Finn smiled at Sugar, and sighed when he heard her ask how he was doing, "I'm making it, just here to grab a snack and head to the house for a binge watching of movies." He shrugged his shoulders, and could see  that she was a little down, "You sure you're okay? You seem a little down tonight."
Sugar could see that Finn was not having a good day as well. "Looks like we're in the same group. I was going to binge watch movies as well." When he asked if she was okay, she felt compelled to tell him the truth, and she did just that. "No, not really... I bumped into an ex today, and it turns out, he's happily married and have a baby on the way. So I guess, I've been wallowing in self pity. Pathetic, right?" She chuckled sadly.
Finn smiled hearing that he and Sugar had the same plans, and he was tempted to ask her to join him, but he didn't think she would want to spend her night watching action, blow up everything movies. He listened as she told him about her ex boyfriend, and his heart went out to her and he felt compelled to comfort her, "Well it's his loss, and he just stepped aside for the right man to come along." He touched her shoulders, "I don't think it's pathetic at all. You want to hear pathetic, I am here after yet another bad date, and I run into you once again. Now that's pathetic." He smiled.
"Yeah, I guess you're right... But it's been over 2 years and I still haven't found anyone, so maybe I'm not meant to be with anyone..." Sugar said sadly. She didn't mean to sound like a debbie downer but seeing her friends settling down and having families and being one of the last ones single was hard. "But... Let's not talk about that..." She shook her head, "I'm sorry that your date went bad too. That's why I never want to be set up. Blind dates are terrible." She giggled genuinely for the first time that night.
Finn shook his head emphatically, "That's not true at all, you are just getting yourself ready for the  right man, and he is going to come along Sugar, I'm sure of that." He gave her a warm smile, and let out a sigh. He chuckled when she mentioned his bad dates, "Thanks, it's becoming clearer and clearer that these blind dates are not for me either. So if you want, we can watch movies together, since we were going to do the same thing....I mean if you want too." He didn't know why he felt the need to ask her over, but he knew she had a bad night, and so did he, so why not have good company for once.
Sugar smiled, appreciating what Finn was telling her. She was trying not to feel anything other than friendship for the man, but it was hard for her to do that when he would say things like that to her. "Thanks, Finn. I'm sure you're right." She left it at that and let out a sigh, feeling terrible that he had to go through all those bad dates. "May I ask why you are going through all that trouble in the first place? I mean, you're a good looking guy. It's not like you can't find a date..." She was taken aback by his suggestion, but found that she couldn't deny him the request. Besides, she could really use the company. "Sure, why not... It's not like I have a hot date tonight anyway..." She giggled.
Finn was glad that he was able to make Sugar feel better, seeing her smile seemed to make him smile. "You're welcome Sugar." He was trying so hard to not be attracted to her, but he was, she was an amazing woman. Hearing her ask why he was doing all this dating made him laugh, "To be honest, I don't really know why. Mercedes came to me, and said that I needed to go out with all these woman, and be more social, so since i trust her, I said why not. I mean it wouldn't hurt to meet someone, but right now I am rethinking this whole plan" He blushed a little hearing her call him a good looking man, "Well thank you for the compliment." He was surprised she said yes to his request, "You will? Well that's great, let's get our snacks of choice and head out."
"That's definitely a typical guy attitude, you don't want a confrontation, so you just do whatever your friends tell you to do, but I find it sweet that you would do that for Mercedes. She seems like a really good person." The more time she spent with Finn, the more Sugar began to like him. It was getting impossible to keep things strictly professional and she already knew that she had broken her promise when she agreed to watch a movie with him. "Yeah, if you want me to hang out with you then yes, I'll go." She blushed and held up her Phish Food ice cream. "I already got what I need, so if you're ready, we can pay and go."
"I trust Mercedes, and I know that she would not purposely set me up with bad dates, but I just think that I have a certain standard I am looking for, and I just haven't found her yet." Finn smiled and nodded at Sugar's comment, "Yes, Mercedes is a really good person." He was nervous and excited to hear that Sugar was going to go to watch a movie with him, "I would really like if you would hang out with me." He could feel his stance on not crossing that line with Sugar starting to ease up, because tonight he really wanted her company, "Well I got my ice cream, but I need to get a few other things, so give me a few minutes, and we can get out of here." He led her through the aisles and was getting the things he needed, and ten minutes later they were in the checkout line, "Sugar....if I don't say it tonight, let me say it now, tonight has turned out to be so much better than it started." He smiled and started checking out his items.
"Okay, then you go get whatever else you need and then we can go check out." Sugar followed as Finn went to grab all the snacks that he wanted for the night. As he did that, she wondered how the man was able to keep fit. He ate like an elephant, but he was fit. That brought on even more musing. Did he go to the gym? Was he a runner or did he lift weights? Then it got really dirty as she wondered how he would look like sweaty and naked. She quickly snapped herself out of the thought. She stood behind him while he checked out and smiled at what he said, "I'm going to say the same thing to. Tonight has been a great night, so thank you very much." She waited until he was done before walking out of the grocery store. "Did you want to come hang out at my place? It's only a few blocks away, but I was planning on watching romantic comedies..." She chuckled at that.
Finn never felt this instantly connected to a woman like he was with Sugar, but he still had to try not to get too attached to her, because she was still Ava's caretaker. She smiled hearing her return his sentiments, "Well at least we are on the same page." After they were done in the store, she asked him if he wanted to head back to her place, and he was about to say yes, until she mentioned romantic comedies. and his eyebrow furrowed, "Um...I'm not really a romantic comedy guy, I was going to watch some high octane action movies tonight."
Sugar made a face when Finn said that he was going to watch action movies. "I'm not really into action movies. Is there something that's less violent? I mean, some action flicks I can watch, others not so much... But it's okay if you don't have anything. We don't have to do this. I can just go home and take a warm bath while I eat my ice cream." She didn't want him to feel as if he had to hang out with her, so she was giving him a chance to back out if that was what he wanted.
"Oh...." Finn said, but he didn't want to be a jerk, he did in fact ask her to watch the movies with him. "You know what, we can watch the movies you had ready to watch, who knows, I might actually enjoy them." He really wanted to hang out with her so he was willing to watch the romantic comedy. His mind went to a dirty place when she talked about taking a bath, he just saw her sexy body, all soapy and wet... he had to get himself together, "So....um...I guess I will follow you back to your place?"
"Are you sure? I don't want you to have to endure watching romantic comedies just for me." Sugar found it sweet that Finn was willing to endure watching romantic comedies just so he could hang out with her. Her attraction for him was growing and she wasn't sure if she could stop it anymore now, "Yeah, you can follow behind my car. It's not too far so you won't get lost. Let me get my car and lead the way." She went to her car and like she promised, she led them back to her apartment. She was actually a little nervous about showing him her place. It was clean, but she had a very girly taste. "Please don't freak out when you see my place." She told him as she unlocked the door to her apartment. "I'm a woman and I like girly things." She let out a nervous chuckle, opened the door and switched on the lights. "Come on in..." She walked inside and threw the keys on the coffee table. "I told you it's girly. I really like purple. Don't judge me." She giggled.
"I'm sure, it's fine." Finn smiled and after they planned to follow one another, he headed to his car. He got inside the ca, "I can't believe I'm doing this...I hope I don't mess this up." He followed behind her to her apartment, and it really wasn't that far away. Once they got there, he grabbed his snacks and followed her to the door, but her warning confused him, "Why would I freak out?" And he laughed when she gave him her reasoning, "Oh you do remember I have a daughter, and everybody that helped me create her room made it super girly, with princess and pink everywhere, so it's okay." He laughed and followed her inside, her place was nice, but yes very purple, but nothing he couldn't handle. He shook his head, "No judgement here, it's a really nice place Sugar." He gave her a sincere smile.
Sugar was so relieved that Finn didn't mind her place. She didn't know why she cared what he thought about her place, it wasn't like he was going to come visit her after tonight. They weren't friends, he was her employer. "Thanks. I know you have a daughter, but I've never had a man come back to my place before and I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable." Now, she was the one feeling uncomfortable. She didn't even know why she felt the need to tell him that she had never brought a man back to her place. He probably thinks that she was pathetic now. "Why don't you take a seat, I'm going to get the spoons and put on the movie for us." The fifteen minutes that it took for her to get everything together was enough to calm her nerves. "Trainwreck is more of a comedy than it is a romance, so I'm sure you won't mind watching it too much." She said before she sat down a respectable distance from Finn and turned on the movie.
Finn was surprised to hear that Sugar never had a man in her apartment, and it made him feel special that he invited him over. "Wow, well I feel honored Sugar, and I am not uncomfortable." He sat down, and took off his jacket, waiting for Sugar to come back with the spoons. In the meantime he looked at some of the pictures she had around, and opened his Cheese Puffs. When she got back, she informed him that they were going to watch Trainwreck, "Oh I actually wanted to see that movie, so this works out fine." He smiled and saw she was sitting with some distance between them. He wanted to break the tension, so he took his bag of chips, and offered it to her, "Would you like a cheese puff?" And in the process, he inched a little closer.
"That's good that you wanted to watch it. That means you're not going to be bored to death." Sugar smiled at him before quickly putting her attention back to the movie, or at least tried to do that. It was hard on her to focus when she had Finn sitting just inches away from her. She could feel him moving closer, and moved a little so that she could grab a couple cheese puffs from the bag. "Thank you..." She smiled and went back to watching as she slowly ate the cheese puffs. It was getting really hard for her to concentrate now. His closeness was a distraction, and to add on to that, she could smell his cologne. The scent enticing her to do things that she knew she shouldn't be doing with Finn.
"I don't think I could ever be bored with you Sugar..." Finn stopped himself, he didn't mean to say that, well not like that. "I meant, bored watching a good movie with you." He sighed, feeling like a idiot. He was not going to say anything else, just watch the movie. He kept getting distracted by looking over at her, and she was so pretty, he was finding himself looking at her more than the movie. Watching her eat was even a turn on, and he had this overwhelming feeling to kiss her. He was conflicted, he didn't want to mess anything up because of their positions, but he really wanted to kiss her, so he took a deep breath, "Um...Sugar, is it bad that I really want to kiss you right now?"
Sugar was trying her best to watch the movie. It was hard seeing as Finn was distracting her, but she was still determined to keep herself at her best behavior. Her head snapped up towards him when she heard his question. She eyes his lips and bit her own, before shaking her head, "No... It's not bad. I want to kiss you too." She admitted, her heart beating a mile a minute.
Finn wanted to scream out when she said she wanted to kiss him back, but he didn't, he kept his composure. He looked deep into her eyes, and moved a piece of hair out her face, letting his fingers linger on her cheek, "Well, if we both want the same thing, then what's the hold up?" He leaned in, and gently placed his lips on hers, and kissed her as softly as he could, but then he felt the sparks, and started deepening the kiss. Sliding his tongue along her bottom lip, asking for entry into her mouth.
Sugar didn't know if this was a good idea, she was working for a daycare that he sent his daughter to and she really shouldn't want to kiss him, but she couldn't help herself. She needed the kiss and so she let go of her inhibitions and kissed him back. With his gentle urging, she opened her mouth and tangled her tongue with his. He was a great kisser and she really was enjoying the kiss, but then she felt guilt come over her and she pulled back. She covered her lips with a palm and gasp, "I really shouldn't have done that. You're someone I have to work for, and things could get complicated."
Finn was enjoying the kiss so much, and he wanted it to go even further than that, but Sugar pulled away, and was talking about how complicated things could be. He put his finger to her lip to stop her from talking, "I know it could get complicated, I thought about that too, but it could also be amazing, and if we let our fears get in the way, then we might be missing out on a good thing. I think we owe it to ourselves to try this, and see where it goes, because we have been tap dancing around this from the first day we met." He pulled her in his arms, "Take a chance with me Sugar....please." He leaned in and kissed her again, hoping to persuade her to be with him.
Sugar was afraid of what could happen. Things were good at the beginning, but what if they ended sourly? How was she going to be able to deal with things then. Despite all of her fears, Finn was able to soften her resistance. He was right, she had been attracted to him since the beginning and she wanted to know where they could go from there, so she stopped fighting and gave into what she knew was right. She kissed him back and for a few minutes, they stayed that way, until she felt as if things were going to go too far. She pulled back and rest her head on his forehead, "That was amazing, but we need to take this a little slower. I don't want things to escalate too fast." She kissed his lips softly again and said, "How about you take me out tomorrow night? We can see how things go after that."
Finn didn't know where this boldness came from, but when it came to Sugar, he knew he wanted to be with her, and he was determined to make that happen. Feeling her resistance fading away, he was excited, because that meant she was willing to take this chance with him. They made out on her couch for a few more minutes, before she pulled away again, but this time it was just to slow down, not stop. "You're right, we need to take this slow, and do it right." He smiled at her, and for the first time, he was really content and happy. "It would be my pleasure to take you out on a date tomorrow night, we can go back to Franco's since we both like Italian, and we both thought it was a great date restaurant." He smiled, and caressed her cheek with his thumb.
"Thank you. I want to do this right because I really like you." Sugar admitted and was actually excited for their date. True, they had been to the restaurant together before, but that wasn't for a date. This was special because they would be spending time together and getting to know one another. "Franco's is a great place to start. We can find some other place to go to for our next date." She was sure that there would be another date because she knew that this was not going to be a one off thing. Something this right, couldn't just end prematurely. "Now, can we watch the movie? I'm going to have to restart it from the beginning because you were distracting me." She giggled, kissing his lips softly once more.
"I really like you too Sugar, and I want this to be right." Finn was sure that this was right, it felt right. He was attracted to her from day one, and she always was there when things were not going right on these horrible dates, that had to be a sign. He was glad she agreed to Franco's, "Yes for our next date we will find another hidden treasure that we both will love." He felt confident now, and he knew this was right. He wrapped his arms around her, "Sure, now we can watch the movie." He laughed, "Please rewind it, because I don't know what was going on, I was distracted by you too." He returned her kiss and her pulled her closer to him, no more distance between them.
"I'm glad that I wasn't the only one distracted." Sugar chuckled. She was so happy that this terrible day had taken a turn and she was now happily snuggling up with the man that she had been attracted to ever since the first time she laid eyes on him. After restarting the movie, she laid her head on Finn's shoulder and cuddled up to him while the watched the movie. They did really well and didn't stop until the movie was over before they started making out again.
"Mercedes is a good friend for caring for you that much.” Sugar stated, smiling. From the first time she met the other woman, she liked her. Mercedes seemed to have a good head on her shoulders, even if Sugar didn’t like the fact that she was trying set Finn up with blind dates. Again, she reminded herself that he was her employer, and it was best to keep things professional. She was glad when he agreed to join her and her friends, “Great! Let’s get away from this depressing table then…” She chuckled as they left the table and headed back to her friends, “No, I’m telling you, they won’t mind at all. They’re all very friendly people.” She sat next to Finn, and had a great dinner. All her friends were nice to him, and one even asked on the sly if she liked him. She of course denied it even though her heart knew the truth.
