So, @wingedscribe, I hear you want to know 10 songs I’ve been listening to lately. Well, I’ve got them here for you.
1. “Isn’t Life Strange?” by The Moody Blues -- Evidence that I got into my mother’s record collection. This is on a character playlist for a thing that...will be revealed sometime relatively soon. We’ll see. He arrives fairly late to the party, anyway, so it might be a while, regardless.
2. “Yesterday” by Marianas Trench -- This is a great driving song. Just saying.
3. “I Miss Those Days” by Bleachers -- This new album is fantastic. I’ve gotta give it a few more listens before I give a proper review of it, but this is my favorite from the singles. Bonus: I also love “Goodmorning” because “Goodbye” follows it up later in the album, and this is a good thing.
4. “Dig Down” by Muse -- Do I need to remind people that I love Muse? If you like the sound of a woman building a makeshift flaming prosthetic leg for herself so she can kick lots of ass while the band members appear on television monitors scattered throughout the set, you absolutely have to watch the official music video.
5. “Strange Traveler” by Jasmin Kaset -- I love the entire Quiet Machine album, and I honestly can’t get enough of it. Need those good good sapphic love songs and an indie-pop singer/songwriter vibe that’s piano-heavy? If so, this album is clearly what you’re looking for. I know it’s what I’m looking for.
6. “Danse Carribe” by Andrew Bird -- The version off of Fingerlings 4, specifically. I don’t know why, but this just puts me in a good mood every time I hear it. It’s very much a sunny day sort of song.
7. “Run Away With Me” by Carly Rae Jepsen -- This is another great driving song, and an overall jam that I somehow managed to ignore for a while. I knew it because of memes, but the first time I listened to it all the way through was back in February, and I have loved it ever since.
8. “Yellow Flicker Beat” by Lorde -- I’m honestly just prepping for Melodrama’s release by listening to a lot of Lorde’s music. This is one of my favorites.
9. “I Feel The Earth Move” by Carole King -- This is also on the character playlist mentioned in the first blurb. And it’s a jam, as always.
10. “On Melancholy Hill” by Gorillaz -- I arrived 6 years late to Plastic Beach and I will potentially never forgive myself for it.
