gladys is absolutely terrified of growing up alone, growing up and realising that despite everything she would have done and would have been through, it would all amount to nothing. because what is living when you have no one to share it with? it’s part of the reason why she keeps a lot of people so close to her (despite how much she thinks it’s unintentional and that she doesn’t care if people like her or not).
