she tastes bitter, sour with the taste of defeat after such a brilliant play. jinri is hot and cold all at once, eyes burning with a sort of weakness she grits back on pure will. oh, such things are not allowed when you’re a captain. instead, she cups her mouth and addresses her team.
“HUFFLEPUFFS!” she starts, obnoxiously loud. “WE WERE BRILLIANT, DON’T FORGET IT—WE DIDN’T WIN LAST YEAR’S CUP EASY AND WE SHOULDN’T HAVE EXPECT TO WIN THIS YEAR’S EASY EITHER!” her jaw clenches, adrenaline surging through each and every vein, head spinning slight. the weather was cruel, leaving them soaked to the bone and jinri is sure there are tears in almost all of her teammates eyes.
and defeat is bitter bitter bitter after the hours of practice put together.
“WE WILL WIN THE NEXT ONE.” she shouts, affirmation for herself and them. “TAKE THIS WEEKEND TO GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER—PRACTICE STARTS THIS COMING MONDAY AT NOON.”
she wipes her cheek hastily, gathering what’s left of lionhearted in her and ignores her quivering lip.
“ALRIGHT, HIT THE SHOWERS.”
