Hug a librarian
Today might or might not be the International Hug a LIbrarian day. Apparently, there are some confusion online about what day is the “right” day to celebrate this event.
Personally, I think there should be a Hug a Librarian day at least once a month, preferably once a week. They do a lot of important work in our community, and I feel that they don’t get the recognition they deserve.
Neil Gaiman has been quoted to have said:
“Most people don't realize how important librarians are. I ran across a book recently which suggested that the peace and prosperity of a culture was solely related to how many librarians it contained. Possibly a slight overstatement. But a culture that doesn't value its librarians doesn't value ideas and without ideas, well, where are we?”
And reading that, I notice that he said about the same thing as I tried to say, only much better, so, yeah, Hug a Librarian today.
