why is this even an emerging topic. this shit happens every year. multiple times a year. its been happening. guys this is a regular occurrence.
people immediately go hostile before taking the time to fucking use their brains.
anyone that knows me can tell you that i am the biggest animal and nature lover. if they wont then i certainly will tell you— i am a huge fucking enthusiast for wildlife and animals— especially bears.
this is not a situation that calls for violence and attacks on national park workers/wildlife management organizations and their legacy’s practices. this isnt an opportunity to shit on humanity and yap about humans being a disease. (already a million things wrong with that perspective. you are part of the problem!)
if people did a quick google search they’d understand that there is quite literally no other option or solution when confronting this situation. when a bear gets a taste of human food, they are put down because they begin to lose their fear of humans. they become more likely to approach humans, and stay close to human activity. (animals like bears naturally steer clear of human populations.)
“oh they kill the bear because theyre so selfish and dont want humans to get hurt!”
hey dumbass did you watch cocaine bear? (/j)
even for the sake of human safety it isnt a crazy idea. tourists are naturally stupid and get themselves into a bear encounter— which leads me to explain that the euthanization of the bears are for their own sake.
generally, national park tourists are dull, selfish and ignorant NPCs who literally see any animal— especially a bear—- and think “Wow, I’m gonna go up to it/feed it/pet it/take a selfie!”
You think that’s safe for the bear? Yes, of course in the situation, if it occurs, a bear will clock your ass if you encounter one. Game over. But if wild bears lose their aggression, and actively seek interactions with humans— What do you think will happen to future bear generations? Offspring of friendly bears will become even more friendlier, and so on. They become easier to find. Easier to locate. They become vulnerable. People are evil, perhaps I retract my statement that humanity isn’t to blame.
But hunters and poachers could become a major problem if bears suddenly started not giving a fuck about people and went all Yogi Bear.
It’s an unfortunate situation. Perhaps it’s cruel. So is nature, not just human nature. Wish people realized that this kind of work isn’t all adorable and full of fluffy joy.
