When looking for stories to adapt into screenplays, I always go back to one of Canada's most underrated writers: Hugh Garner. I like his stories because he focuses on real people with real narratives not Govrmnt propaganda or style over substance. I often compare him with Hemingway or Hubert Selby Jr. precisely because he is able to give so much realness to his characters. You might not like some of them but they're real all right !
