The science fiction and fantasy prize says it has culled 377 votes mostly for ‘Finalist A’, who will not be disqualified as there is no proof they were aware
The prestigious Hugo awards for science fiction and fantasy writing has revealed that almost 400 votes – about 10% of all votes cast in this year’s awards – were fraudulently paid for to help one finalist win.

I understand why they aren't revealing their name, but I am very curious to know who it is.
Macho Nachos App (Shared), Special Chef’s Salad. Hugo’s. Fayetteville, Arkansas. 2.25.2022.
NOTE TO SELF: I'm blown away I haven't been to Hugo's since at least before 2017. The salad was a poor decision, but those nachos hit the spot. The timing was good, otherwise this meal would have fallen way lower.
Currently ranked 9th of 20 February meals.

Hugo’s is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. Admittedly, I’ve only spent about 10 days in Mexico and haven’t had a chance to experience much of the cuisine, but I’ve been to some great Mexican restaurants in the US. My personal favorites have been Tortas Boos Voni in San Francisco, Cosecha in Oakland, Guisados in LA, Taco Guild in Phoenix, and Azteca Market in Bloomington. Hugo’s is one step ahead of all of these.
My experience at Hugo’s was with a group of nine for a celebratory dinner. We were excited to be there, and felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The dining room was decorated for the season with Christmas lights, ornaments, and wreaths. The restaurant was full, and there was a welcoming energy that felt both festive and homey. The staff was pleasant and friendly.
We started off by ordering the ceviche sampler and an appetizer sampler. The ceviche sampler included four kinds of ceviches: shrimp cocktail, octopus, mango, and a traditional ceviche. The appetizer sampler came with fish tamales, crispy potato tacos, plantain empanadas and chicken taquitos. My favorite was the fish tamale – mostly because it brings back childhood memories of eating my Grandma’s tamales during Christmastime, but also because it was incredibly well prepared. I’ve had pork and chicken tamales, but this was my first time having a fish tamale. It may have been the best tamale I’ve had at a restaurant.
For the main course, I ordered the Cazuela de Puerco en Mole Verde (casserole of tender pork, green beans, ayocote beans and chayote in a sauce of poblano peppers, tomatillo, and epazote). Others at the table ordered the pan-seared scallops over cornbread, the prime rib with guacamole and beans, the slow-roasted pig cooked in a banana leaf with black rice and habanero salsa, and the grilled chicken with ancho chile sauce, avocado relish, and potatoes. My dish was served in a very liquidy base. The serving of pork was generous, and the tomatillo sauce also added a great flavor. I was also impressed with the scallops over cornbread. I took one bite and it was loaded with flavor. The habanero salsa was a highlight of the meal too. A very strong salsa that added spice and juiciness to the pork.
For dessert we ordered the dark chocolate cake, caramel-filled crepes, and Capirotada (a type of bread pudding). These were all recommended to us by the waiter. I also ordered a dessert chocolate drink (hot chocolate and spiced rum). The drink was incredible (warm and sweet, with just a hint of rum), and the desserts were all tasty. I really enjoyed the Capirotada, but the chocolate cake was great too.
I’ve spent more and more time in Houston over the last few years, and I’ve continued to be impressed by the food scene (see my previous post on Oxheart for more on Houston cuisine). Hugo’s was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Houston, and as I mentioned earlier, was the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. A perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
