i just saw someone refer to trump as the 'nacho nazi' (i guess because orange?) and my first reaction was 'oh i hate that it makes it sound like trump himself is somehow mexican.'
then i was like. wait. wait hang on. isn't that. isn't--don't those sound the same because it's basically the same word twice???

Nachos are supposedly named after a specific guy called Nacho, short for Ignacio.
Nazi was a derogatory nickname for Hitler's party which had been previously used as a derogatory term for a dumb hick, stereotyping guys called Nazi. Short for Ignatz.
That's the same name. Nacho and Nazi are literally the same exact nickname via Mexico and Germany respectively, but tagged onto wildly different non-human phenomena, and both loaned into English in wholly unrelated ways.
The fuck is language even.
