OHHHHHH my mom's personal stuff is what people are talking about when they say how hard it is to break the cycle of abuse!! what she does is how it keeps getting justified. thats crazy man, i thought she just didnt care and i was a lot to deal with anyway thats actually way easier to live with.

while I was thinking about fanart and what I usually reblog vs like I think I realized that while I often like fanart for animated/written canons, fanart for live-action canons often hits an uncanny valley squick for me that I can't quite put my finger on

like I'm definitely way, way more... I don't want to say picky? but I guess there is a much smaller percentage of fanart there that scratches my brain the right way and not the wrong one.

I guess when I know exactly what a character looks like and they're a real person, there's a bigger chasm of "no that's not what they look like" than when it's a more stylized depiction. (or, in the case of a written and/or podcast canon, no one canon visual depiction at all.)

I think it's the "close to a specific IRL person but not what they actually look like" thing for me because now that I think about it, I do have a very sensitive uncanny valley squick. doll/mirror phobia rise up ;;

(this is probably also why I always enjoyed gelphie fanart pre-movie but the second I saw fanart that was identifiably cynthia and ariana I was like no thank you!!!)

So I was curious how long I've been writing DUCKLINGS THAT DROWN for since I have pretty strong sense memories of writing by my window in the summertime (it's been a considerably cooler summer where I am than last year, so I wasn't sure) but that could have also been me finishing off Imprinting, and-

In less than a week I'll have been writing this fic for a year! Wow!

If I wasn't so busy with stuff IRL and finishing these pieces for the Pale Static Exchange then I'd try to have part 2 out ON the 25th of July 😭 no such luck!
