I can't tell you exactly why I love hula. The dances are delicate, but full of power. It's honestly one of the most difficult things I've done. My legs are sore, my feet hurt, and my back is killing me. But I'm completely devoted to it. It's beautiful knowing generations of people before you preformed and perfected this art form with so much love and dignity. I may not be the most graceful and poised dancer yet, but I'm giving it as much soul and heart as I've got in me. It's added structure in my life that I desperately needed. It's helped me heal emotionally, and physically. To my Halau and my Kumu, thank you for giving me a chance and accepting me as one of your own.
