Portrait of Olga in an Armchair
I was deleting files from my desktop when I found this. We were assigned to write a poem for my art class based on Picasso's painting entitled, "Portrait of Olga in an Armchair".
Portrait of Olga in the Armchair
As she sits in the cloth-covered chair
She stares at me with eyes that glare
One arm poised, the other withdrawn
She looks as if she wants to yell:
“Look at me! I’m perfect! I’m unflawed!”
The girl in the armchair who clutches the fan
Has no question what the future has planned
Sitting in the chair so wonderfully adorned
Stop, stay still
For finally her world was adored
Who would’ve thought with that look in her eyes
Her perfect world would shrivel up and die?
A dancer, a mother, a wife so great
How did she succumb to this fate?
Darkly, silently, evil crept in
And stole her joys right under her wing
If only she could bring back what had gone wrong
Too late, my dear, he didn’t want you all along
