I am PERPETUALLY frustrated that in all of the fantasy books that I read, somehow people have plumbing but not anything for food preservation except a general larder. they still have to dry and preserve food the old fashioned way. BUT BY GOD DO THEY HAVE TOILETS. this is not how humans or creatures of any sort react.

the very first thing that most creatures, given a spell for cold, or freeze, or whatever, would be to SAVE THE FOOD. we would be figuring out how to keep the rats and other pests out. we would be figuring out ways to make it spoil less quickly if at all. why is it in worlds full of ice spells there are no enchanted chests or trunks to be used as chest freezers? Why are there showers, or elevators, but no walk in freezer or fridge in the palace kitchens? Next from that would be ways to store water or bring water up from the earth and water crops. keeping clothing clean, keeping the house secure, etc. the things that you would do living in the middle of nowhere. NOW. what I can see happening for toilets is smell repressors or maybe waste management such as... like freezing it or something. but honestly there are many systems that would be used to be rid of waste and to get clean BEFORE indoor plumbing.

im all well with indoor plumbing... just... not out of order please.
