It is now generally accepted that if the Chinese do cook "baby soup", they do so exclusively from aborted embryos, whose fate would be unenviable in any case. In the last century, Chinese mercenaries, taking advantage of the connivance of the Soviet government, could treat themselves to newborn babies, since only an experienced expert would be able to tell them apart after cooking. However, getting hold of both an aborted embryo and a newborn baby was not a difficult task at that time. For a certain bribe, the Chinese were given forcibly aborted fetuses of women sentenced to death. They were also supplied with babies who, to their misfortune, were born behind bars. There are known cases when the Chinese ate aborted human embryos that came straight from hospitals - bribed employees of medical institutions told the expectant mother during an examination that her fetus was dead, thereby provoking her to have an abortion. Sometimes even newborn babies from parents sympathetic to the Soviet regime, who were told by profit-hungry doctors that their child was stillborn, would end up in restaurants. Meanwhile, the "dead" children were already in the hands of Chinese chefs who were eager to pamper their compatriots with tasty and healthy food.
Of course, these are all just "urban legends." But some people really believe in it and claim that such delicacies from embryos exist - in closed, underground establishments… I took this idea on board and called my Restaurant "Underground." The main character ends up underground mostly in a strange way, after seizures, because the Entrance to the Underground is only for the insane.
