Hi! I absolutely love your art, especially your Book omens and ESPECIALLY especially Book Crow. I have 2 questions: 1) when did Book Az and Crow exchange rings and who’s idea was it? (I personally think it would be Crow ‘cause he’s a softy) 2) There’s a lot of Reverse TV omens out there, but do you have any headcannons for a Reverse Book AU?
thankyou so much! ^-^
1) they did it shortly after my Bookshop Confession comic. it was Az’s idea, but they agreed on it mutually.
2) i have 0% desire to ever draw Reverse Omens of any kind (unless commissioned.)
the reason Reverse Omens seems to be working with TV verse is because AJ and Zira are a little too close to the stereotypical “Good Angel/Bad Demon”. obviously they deviate from those roles, but not nearly as much as Book verse.
Az and Crow are the “Good Demon/Bad Angel”, they’re literally a reverse au already. that’s why they’re so great and that’s why there’s no need for that kind of AU (in my personal opinion). trying to make a reverse for book omens would just make them unrecognizable as characters.
(again, no hate on anyone’s Reverse AU projects. y’all enjoy that as much as you like! it’s just not an idea i would ever dip into for GO myself)
Happy Halloween ya creeps! This gal and two of her ghoulish pals will be bringing their neon voids to Small Wonders this Friday at @archenemyarts! Come say what’s up! I’ll also be accepting Reese’s cups if you have any left over after tonight. I need a Little Nightmares sequel featuring Mono and Six except this time you play as Six and every time you come back to Mono after completing a quest he’s found himself a new hat.
Six: Hey Mono. I’m back with the key.
Mono: *is now wearing a flower crown *
Later...
Six: ok I got the fuse let’s go.
Mono: *is wearing a pirate hat*
Six: where did you even find that?
Later...
Six: Did you see me take out that monster!?!? That was crazy!
Mono: *has put a paper boat on his head*
Six:
Six: ...Why am I friends with you...
In case you’re wondering what Varian and the Seven Kingdoms is:
I’ve seen a lot of people trying to find out more about the 7 kingdoms AU and not knowing where to start, so I’ve decided to make a post about it that I can direct people to whenever I see them asking. (It took me a while to figure out what it was too.)
Varian and the Seven Kingdoms is a spin-off story to The Tangled Series that features Varian as the main character. It was created by two storyboard artists on the Tangled Series crew, Kaitlyn Ritter and Anna Lencioni. They pitched this idea as a comic book series to Disney. Many crew members, including Chris Sonnenburg (the Tangled Series producer) were on board with and very excited about this project. However, it never came into fruition.
Disney ultimately decided not to produce the comic because they didn’t think there would be enough of a following for Varian, since he was a side character in a show about a Disney Princess. (Which I think we can all agree was an incorrect assessment! But oh well.) In any case, it’s likely the closest thing the fandom will ever have to a canon continuation of Varian’s story and is very well thought out, so it’s gained a lot of popularity. However, since it was never actually produced, we refer to it as the 7 Kingdoms AU.
BUT! The good news is that Kaitlyn Ritter posted much of what they had developed for the series onto her tumblr page, Kritterart. This includes the plot outline, world building notes, character designs, character descriptions, story beats, a few short comics, and more. Her blog will have all the basics you need to know. (Kait is also on Instagram but the 7 Kingdom notes are not posted there.)
To learn more about the character Hugo specifically, you can check out Anna Lencioni’s blog, Bananarbread. Hugo was originally one of her first DnD characters, so he’s existed for many years and has been very well fleshed out on her blog. Keep in mind that this DnD Hugo is not “Disneyfied” like 7 Kingdoms Hugo is, so there are some slight differences, but it still helps to get a better idea of his character.
Additional resources:
Kryptopine is another blog (on tumblr and Instagram, but mostly Instagram) that I’d recommend checking out. Krypto was not a developer of 7 Kingdoms herself, but she’s had conversations with Kaitlyn and some of her art is based on those conversations.
YouTuber Isaac Carlson has made 2 videos in which he talks about Varian and the Seven Kingdoms. The first is a basic briefing and commentary on the concept. The second is an interview with Kaitlyn Ritter. These are both very helpful for someone trying to learn more about the AU.
And last but not least, there’s a Varian and the Seven Kingdoms Discord server which has most of the official 7 kingdoms information posted in one place for convenience- not to mention, there are many fans there who’ll tell you anything more you want to know about it. Message me if you’d like an invite to this server.
And have fun exploring this amazing AU!
Some arts inspired by @littlerose13writes fic, Gwyffindor.
1. Scorpius can’t help but notice that Albus is having a hard time his first few days of Hogwarts.
2. Scorpius patches up Albus’s torn plush dragon and leaves an adorable little note alongside it.
3. Chog the Hedgehog, meet Gryffindor the Dragon.
So, putting aside for the moment that the miraculous fandom is on crack and that Adrichat is cursed, let’s be realistic about this.
All these concepts have Plagg being disgusted, but if Adrien somehow came across Adrichat fan fiction on the internet, PLAGG would be the one chasing Adrien around while reading it aloud, and Adrien would be the one begging for death. You people are underestimating Plagg’s love of chaos.
If you’ve ever painted while also drinking something, you’ve been there.
This happens a lot after Hugo and Varian become alchemy partners.
The 7k discord server has a running joke about Varian having a sixth sense that tells him when Hugo’s about to eat something stupid on purpose.
I propose that Hugo can sense when Varian’s about to eat something stupid on accident.
