i need an alien movie where an alien device has fallen on earth, a really ominous-looking thing that glows red and makes a horrible noise when touched and scientists spend the whole movie trying to decipher what the actual FUCK is that and what the noise means and where it came from and the whole thing is framed as a suspense or borderline horror action film while people panic thinking it may be a treat and in the end when someone finally manages to identify the sound and translate it-
is a song. a love song about looking at the night sky and wondering about other people far far away in distant stars.
a message of "Are you there? who are you? can we meet? we want to know you. let us be friends. might this rover find you after we are long gone please know we were here, once, too, and tho we may never get to know you we still love you."
and the ending is the whole world listening to it with the new knowledge that there is someone.
