Human kind. #27
One rainy night in Las Vegas. In life we learn to take what we can to get ahead. In life you should also know to give what you can, it will also get you ahead. Example, one rainy night a knock at my door was a friend of a friend looking for said friend that had bailed on her and left her out in the storm and my house was the only place she could walk to looking for said friend. Soaking wet head to toe. I got her dry and hot soup in her, I was making some anyways, and watched her cry and tell me what happened. She insisted on no further assistance, I was to nice already. (man that has got me burned so many times, but it pays off in the long run). She had to go. So I gave her a jacket, the only one that I didn't wear. Just so happens it was an Italian made water proof, cut proof, fire resistant tan leather coat that was worth a lot of money but that night it was worth keeping a young lady warm and dry. I told her to keep it forever and when she put it on to think about me. She said she would cherrish it like a best friend. She kissed me so tenderly and then turned and walked out the door into the stormy night. You know I never did see her again. I can't even remember her name any more. She came in broken and left mended and I hope she found what she needed in life. I wonder about her now and this was 25 years ago. If you can't see how I came out ahead in this story you should read it again.
