Today I stumbled apon this OfferUp ad for a hamster. The lister was asking $40 for the cage and hamster. If you look inside the cage you will see that there is not nearly enough bedding in that cage for a hamster to burrow. There should be at least 4-8 inches of bedding in that cage! The cage is maybe 100 square inches of not less. Not nearly enough space for an animal who travels 5+ miles a day. The minimum amount of space required for a hamster is 450 square inches of unbroken floor space. There is no wheel for the hamster to run on, no hide for it to feel safe. There is a water dish but no food dish.
I inquired about the hamster but she would not sell the hamster to me for less than twenty and eventually quit responding when I asked how old the hamster was.
As the night wore on I continued scrolling through countless adds on Craigslist, OfferUp, etc. I continued seeing hamsters, turtles, rabbits, and other animals who were clearly mistreated, living in terrible conditions.
I am angry at the world. Enraged that humans could treat animals so cruel. We are despicable. Why purchase an animal in the first place only to treat it like garbage? There are so many animals who need to be saved, who shouldn’t have to live their lives suffering. I cannot save them all. I could not save that one hamster pictured above. I sure as hell don’t have the money to pay $40 for a hamster and a piece of crap cage, as well as invest in the proper housing for that animal.
I so desperately wish I could save them all, or even just one. However I don’t have the funds to be able to do it, I don’t have the space to save them all. And who cares enough about animals to help? Not very many people that’s for sure.
I wish I could ask for help, that someone else would want to see these animals live out the rest of their days the way they deserve to.

Rude asshole being a jerk towards someone they have never met irl when I have surgery for my car accident today. Some humans have no understanding of others.
Honestly if you don't take even a moment to understand a person or try to get to know them you lose the right to speak. Always be considerate, you don't know the circumstances or who they really are in person.
I always wonder why I seem to be the only one that always tries to understand and help people instead of just being a jerk. That doesn't help anyone.
