Vidcon is a place to meet new people. It's also where creators reflect on their own journeys around online video creation.
The first couple years of Vidcon the big and little YouTuber's would run into each other in the elevators of The Hyatt in LA. Today the big Youtuber's tower above us as we sit on the cement steps and maybe see them from a distance on a stage protected by guards. This isn't a bad thing, just different. This is the last day of year 8. I've met new friends, reconnected with old friends, and spent time with one of my favourite creators. Until next year friends.
The grounds staff for the Anaheim convention centre are people always there supporting the event and very much a silent partner. Oh to sit down and talk to them and learn about their perception of Vidcon and other events hosted here.
The first night of Vidcon begins with an old fashioned ride with a modern twist. The tablet allows the riders to take pictures of themselves that then get shared with all the other riders.
So often with Vidcon we talk about the fan girls, but don't forget the boys! This trio was taking the time to take what is probably one of their last selfie's of the conference.
This outdoor stage was surrounded by fans all three days of Vidcon. On the evening of the final day, fans take place of the performers on the stage to rest their heels and decompress from all the action.
Here at Vidcon cameras are the major accessory. "What lens are you wearing? What's your Ftsop?"
When the average person thinks of Vidcon, demographically teenager comes front of mind. This year I'm noticing more generations of people attending and creating content. I hope to see a 90 year old video blogger soon.
