“Mind if I sit here?” She gestures to the bus seat next to the other girl with a soft smile. “There’s only one other empty seat,” she tilts her head further back where a man in a sweater vest sits, his eyes bright behind thick glasses, “and you know what they say - there’s always a crazy person on the bus,” nods along with her words, then furrows her brows, pulls the lollipop out from between her lips, points it, “and you don’t look like the crazy type.”
It’s not a question. Besides, she’s been on this bus for going on four hours now, and she already knows that Greg - the guy in the sweater vest - isn’t crazy. In fact, she’d sat next to him for a little while, although he wouldn’t recognize her now, and he’d been a pleasant little fellow. No, Annie is the crazy one, and her seatmate is already looking around frantic for somewhere else to go--
She sticks the lollipop back between her teeth, and her eyes light up, fingers reaching into one of her pockets before pulling another one out - bright red, probably cherry or strawberry, in contrast to the blue raspberry staining her own lips. “Got a TON of these if ya want one. So, d’ya mind?”
