RAAAAAAAAAAAAB THAT JONMARTIN ART IM SCREAMINGGGGGGGGGGG
FJDKSLAFJDSADA THANK YOU LMAO I SAW YOUR TAGS AND I LOVED THEM!
I hope you have a really great week!
i got really overwhelmed last night and just went to bed, but thank you for being kind. your ask kind of made me tear up a little, frankly; hashing out your validity and having to prove to not only other people but internally whether or not you’re ‘enough’ to be saying things kind of makes you emotional. i hope you have a great week, too. <3
Not that this excuses Being A Dick but I do think some of the disk horse about shipping comes from diff definitions of shipping - for some people it’s more like a relationship they would want irl or that would be cute in canon, while for others it’s a dynamic that they find interesting and want to explore, so then someone says “oh i ship jonelias” and means the second and someone thinks they mean the first and is like “wtf is wrong with you”
oh that is ABSOLUTELY it – there is TONS of miscommunication and misinterpretations of what other people think shipping is! ship is just short for.... relationship. its not (inherently) a moral judgement on the fictional relationship, or like, an endorsement of the fucked up dynamics.
a lot of people for some reason read ‘ship’ and think ‘a relationship i think is good and healthy and want to see in canon.’ which is fine, as long as that definition is used to refer to your own shipping, and not forcibly assigned to other people’s shipping.
just as many people use ‘shipping’ as a shorthand for ‘these characters fucking suck and are horrible to each other! i wonder what horrible things they would do to each other/how dysfunctional that relationship would be!’ and it’s like, at this point you have to purposefully look away to not like, KNOW that

45. which genre: sci-fi, fantasy or superhero?
Fantasy, but I read and play more sci fi.
I’m 100% tired of superheroes and can only watch superhero media that very clearly says that the conception of superheroes is deeply fascist, even if their modern portrayals are rooted in stories written and drawn by people who faced significant prejudice.
72. worst subject?
I did really bad in english class. I liked the reading, and I liked most of the assignments, but I could get on a major perfectionist streak when I was younger and get panicky about the quality of my writing. As a result I got Ds and Cs in most of those classes, except in Senior year, where my english class was all about conceptions of the self. I did well in that. I wrote an entire paper about Battlestar Galactica, and also an essay about Gender that was the absolute eggiest thing in the world.
74. at what pain level out of ten (1 through 10) do you have to be at before you take an advil or ibuprofen?
I’ve never been a good judge of pain. Here are three situations where I have or have not taken otc pain stuff:
In 2017 I broke a rib at field camp and continued to hike like 10 miles per day on rough terrain while making geologic maps. I alternated advil and tylenol to take as much as I could.
Right as lockdown started I got a really bad burn on my finger, and it hurt so much I passed out. I took an advil. (It looks fine now but the feeling isn’t totally back in the tip).
In 2010 I was building a set for a performance of The Cherry Orchard, and about 1/3 of the set pulled up off of the ground and collapsed on my hand. No breaks, bad bruises and swelling, and I had to wear a wrist brace. I did not take pain stuff.

“obnoxious” - technically dasira, but also some jonmartin. You will find mlm / wlw solidarity and non-communication at work!
tap. tap. tap tap tap. tap tap tap tap tap. tap tap. tap tap tap tap.
The incessant, aggravating tapping continues for several minutes, and finally Basira has had enough. She has hard deadlines she set to finish the book she’s currently reading (Metaphysics and Misandry) and to complete research into the locations the Leitner from statement 9851102 was last seen.
“Will you please stop?” she asks, as nicely as she can, but she can’t help if her words sound slightly harsh and annoyed. Martin had been making obnoxious, repetitive noises for hours now. It was like he was living off Red Bulls or whatever the kids were into these days to stay awake.
Martin visibly flinches, like he has just realized there were others in the room. “Wh–” he starts, and stills his hand. “Oh. Sorry?”
