At the farmers market, lots of vendors trim veggies on the spot before selling, and have tons of carrot tops, beet leaves, ugly lettuce, and other greens destined for the dump. But not when I'm around! I've started bringing home bags of these free greens most weeks for the chickens. I only ask from the organic vendors I buy from, so the girls are eating organic too. The chickens weren't so excited when I just tossed this stuff on the ground, so I started tying it up and hanging it from the coop. Complete game changer! Now they have to work for it! They even like to jump at it while it's still in my hands. The girls do like their greens. 🌿🐓🌿🐓🌿🐓🌿🐓 • • • #chickens #gardeningwithchickens #backyardchickens #chickensofinstagram #urbangardening #backyardhomesteading #organicgardening #growyourowneggs #hungrychickens #TheDirtOnOrganicGardening (at City of Pasadena)
