It wasn’t lost on Hayley that the promise of her safety HAD to be made in the first place, when getting in car with the youngest Gilbert, but she also knew she was no longer in any shape to drive home herself. Eyes narrow on him, then on the keys in her tight grasp, buzzed mind trying to make out which one was even for her car. Were there two extra keys on the chain? When the hell did those get there? Maybe she was beyond buzzed.  “ Okay, but you should know that this is my baby. She’s temperamental. She’s got a bit of a kickback and she hardly likes being touched by guys. I’m pretty sure she has the hots for girls only… ”  That was beside the point, but the more she thought about it, the more she could have theorized just why that was the case. No matter, she sighs after dropping her keys in his hand.  “ Just be very careful with her and me. I know where you live… I mean, we’re neighbors and all. ”

didn’t that seem to be the question of the century?     sleep is a distant cousin.     she’d grown a fear of even blinking.      too consumed with an unshakable feeling of impending doom.     only wishing that her nightmares were something so childish as monsters.     spiders.      falling several feet from thin air.      she did dream of monsters.     the only difference was that hers were real.     IN THE FORM OF PEOPLE.    though there is a familiarity of them all.      danced in the back of mind     ,      killed her to not know what message they were trying to send.      they had to mean something.      his question seems to be sincere.     he knew about the constant curse of nightmares.     long running    ,      happening long before they even grew aware of the supernatural.      they’d only just returned     ,      sometimes taking the form of katherine pierce.     or one of the mikaelsons,      of the kidnapping.      or sometimes     ,    of death.       their friends gasping for air.      NO TIME TO SAVE THEM.     jeremy’s death was a recurring theme.     but she would never tell him about it.      besides    ,      wasn’t that what his ring was meant to prevent from happening?      why worry?     out of habit    ,     eyes travelled towards his large hand to make sure it was still there.      taking hold and lifting it    ,      tired smile met a soft gaze.      as long as he still had his ring.       ❛      are you offering to be my human dream catcher?      ❜
