This is just me but maybe Gon doesn't want to know who his mom is because he is troubled that she might have left him like Ging and he will have to look for her and do more life threatening tasks.And honestly, looking for one parent in the hxh world is hard enough but two is just overkill.

Oh yeah I just said that I found it weird that he never really goes looking for his mom (even though he said Mito is kind of like his mom but he could’ve at least look her up) does t mean I want him to that would be overkill look what Ging made gon go through to find him imagine gon mom lol
