Fictober25 day 21 "Just be honest."

Z was resting comfortably on the couch when Kat smacked her antenna right on her face. She always thought her partner to be part cat at times. This was just her way to get her attention. She seemed a lot more huffy than usual.

“Ok, so what’s wrong?”

Kat just pouted at the question. "Just be honest. You want to get married, correct?"

Hunter Zes, the one who spilled the blood of the guilty in Universe 10 to such a degree that it was known to all the consequences of what they did to her family. The same woman who self-made her sense of self from the ground up, and overcame the reminders of the most brutal training.

She was almost blushing pink. Despite her green skin. That intense emotion caused her Pak to light up the entire room.

Fuck fuck fuck, holy shit out of all the things she said. No, she is just messing with me like usual. That has to be it.

"As much as I enjoy this reaction, Zes, I need you to come back out of it so you can respond." Kat just put one hand to her cheek.

Z was still going through a whirlwind of emotions in her head. It wasn't even part of her whole package as an empath. This was all here. While this was happening, she felt a Kat's hand, and then the feeling of lips meeting hers.

When even the most chaste kisses happened when they were teenager, she used to get so flustered. Now it depends. This one felt soft and did what it was intended for. To ground her to the moment.

As Kat broke away from the kiss, she forced Z to look her in the eyes. "I need your racing mind to stop right now. I need you here right now to answer me, Zes."

Holy shit, she was actually asking the question?

Z sighed. "I know titles are not important. Just more and more, I like to say you're mine no matter what. I kinda see a wedding like claiming you for all to see. Also, the last wedding I was at was amazing." That was her truth.

Her parents' wedding wasn't typical, but it had everyone celebrating. It's probably staying as long as she did on Earth, because she says that the ceremony was great. If you do it the way you want to for your significant other.

“Thank you for giving me an answer then. It's just something to think about." Kat just gave the softest smile. Before she could ask why, she wanted to know about her thoughts on marriage, and another kiss came. This one had a clear message.

Just shut up for a bit. This moment is ours.

Fictober25 day 14 "Do we have a plan?"

“Do we have a plan?”

Z just blinked as she was already looking at the guard rotations and the scans of the building they were going to hit. With her tactical mind, she's already finding several different ways to enter the building. That, along with several combat plans.

She sighed. "Yes, along with paths where the ones Gramps wants alive should be located. Seriously, I wouldn't go in without some idea."

Should I be proud I'm more like pops in this regard? Eh, I've always been like this, just now I have to put several times more thought. I'm not a kid anymore.

"I have to ask, considering what happened in the past. It's what I'm here for. To make sure you don't mess it up."Kat was already smirking. Though this was her way of making sure her partner didn't fall back on old habits.

Z smirked and adjusted her gun. “Fuck you. I was pissed then for a good reason the last time. This is just for money right now.”

"We will do the fucking later. Don't worry about that part." Kat smirked as she used one claw to lift Z's chin.

Dad can never know about this. Don’t be a simp.

She was blushing fiercely. "Hey, it's our first job since I found dad again. Can we get back on track?"

"We'll get off track later in our room then. You are like both your parents in that regard. It says something when I tell you to lighten up." Kat was a little smug but returned her focus to the building.

Hunter Zes just sighed. Still blushing hard. “We’re working bitch, but I’ll take that as a compliment.”

She's gonna kill me one of these days. Fuck, the last thing I want to do is propose when covered in blood.

Z just smirked and grabbed the side of Kat’s face. “You do like it when I’m the most dangerous thing in the room.”

Now it was Kats' turn to blush. It's not often they flirt when working on a job. Not even when it's just a smuggling or delivery. Just sometimes it's how they are.

Fictober25 day 4 "Can you hold me?"

The time always seems to stretch on to infinity. The now Hunter Zes now just makes this year the year of blood. That seemed to be how it was when looking for her dad. Time after time, many people have tried to take away her right to have a home.

She does have a home still. She sees her Uncle Knelt all the time. He still says he's proud of her on every visit. Dre comes in mostly for comedic timing. Gramps is telling her to cut back on the coffee and workload. Sim is still being himself despite their encounter with Sycorax.

It’s just hard when the ones who started everything are gone.

“You made progress. Now it’s a mandatory rest moment.”

She looks up from her latest data analysis. Well, mostly at trying to keep the trail from the latest carnage her dad left behind. "I still have to get the energy signature down. I doubt I can pick up the trail soon, but it's an edge."

I was so close last time. I have just put the data into the new program. Might not have the trail exact, but might get a sense where he's going.

Kat just glared and held her face. “I wasn’t asking. This is a demand. Your sense of loyalty is one of the things I love about you, but for fuck sake. "

There was always something. Either her best friend, Vaz, or Kat has always been the one to pick her up when her mind wants to hold her back. Z just gives a soft smile. "You never used to swear so much before we met."

That’s been well over 5 years.

"Well, you've been an excellent influence. Now, work can wait. " She has a feeling Kat wanted to say something else. Just saying what she needed.

Z just mumbled a bit. “Could you just… Can you hold me? It’s always easier to sleep or relax like that.”

That was one trait she shared with her parents. Though this wasn't her parents' relationship. This was hers. Their dynamic. With a bigger bed installed in their room

She was so tired. It was obvious that the more lay there in a mutual embrace.

"Just let me keep the dreams away. Even if it's only for a little while." Kat just whispered as she saw her partner doze off.

Fictober24 day 1 "That was good work"

“That was good work. Nice job kid.”

Zes huffed at her older counterpart's compliment. Ever since she decided to do some training in the void it's been like this. Truth, the kid doesn't mind Z one bit. It's just a bit odd to be around someone who knows so much about yourself.

I don’t like how tall this woman got. It explains so much really.

Z just smiled and bopped Zes's head before the girl could overthink. "Kid I can hear you overthinking from here. What's up?"

"Wait, can you hear what I'm thinking?!" The possibility of magic was also a problem since she connected to her one time.

Z chuckled. "No, that's not how it works. Not unless you want to and at that time it was more like a message than reading your mind. I saw you making a face that might require a Nerf gun if you keep it up. Doesn't take magic to see that."

Fuck, why must that make so much sense? Who am I kidding? I do that too.

"You're way too tall," Zes grumbled. She only just started liking the fact of how small she was. Then her molt happened and then she shot up an entire foot. Everyone said it wasn't different but it felt different. "Does that help fighting?"

Z went quiet for a little bit. Like she was thinking about how to reply to this. "Well, I admit it has given me room to work with. Though height has nothing to do with it. I know kid, I miss being small too."

The woman just pats the kid and then goes back to the opposite end of the little training area they made in the void.

“What's good about potential if you don't figure out how to use it? You're getting better at this. Now, try again but judge the distance with how long your legs are now. It's still the same style just new adjustments." Z was being a good teacher.

She is going to regret agreeing when I kneecap her. Hehehehe

Zes grinned before coming at the older woman with another attack.

Fictober24 day 29 "how did this happen?"

“How did this happen?”

Zes decided that on this next break, they had to ask Z something that had been bugging her for a while. She just took out her communicator and pulled up her Tumblr blog.

Z just tilted her head in slight confusion before sitting down next to her. "You're going to have to be a bit more specific here kid."

"You know, a while back, it seemed like someone logged into my blog. There are posts from that time I can't see. Then it happened again recently. I remember you said you were going to check it out. I just wanna know how this kind of thing even happens." Zes just sighed.

My blog shouldn't be accessed by anyone but me. For fucks sake I made the password in Irken.

Z just gave a nervous chuckle. "Oh yeah, with all the things I've had to do recently, I kinda forgot about that. I don't think it's anything you need to worry about too much."

"You know I would be annoyed if I didn't forget about it, too. I only brought it up again because I saw another post like that. Maybe it's time to change that password." Zes sighs before fiddling with some things on her communicator.

This kind of thing normally would worry me. Yet it’s strangely not.

Z just takes a moment to think before patting Zes on the head. "Kid, what I can tell you is that I also have access to your blog. After all, it used to be mine for a time. Anyone named Zes has access to the Tumblr blog."

"Wait, are you saying what I think you're saying? There is another one of us around?!" It didn't take long for the kid to put two and two together. Z would have made posts known if it was her posting things on her blog.

Z sighed. "I promised to respect their privacy. Though hiding the use of the blog just says it all. They're not ready to be more public. That's all I can say about it."

That's skirting the line on keeping your word. She knows this...shit. I shouldn't push if that's the case. Still, why do I get this feeling of dread thinking about it myself? Like there is no danger to me, but it’s something else entirely.

“Ok, glad you still have the same rule on keeping your word. Though you didn’t have to say that much if that was the case.” Zes just doesn’t make eye contact in her attempt at playing it cool.

Z just stares for a moment before smiling. "What happened to the kid that used to grump like a wet cat when I didn't tell her things? Though in all seriousness you deserve to know that much when it comes to things around you. Just for now, enjoy all this new happy living you got going on."

Now I'm wondering what secrets she has. Oh well, not like I'm going to get clear answers anyway. Unless it's important. I trust this woman enough for that.

Fictober24 day 13 "That's not the point."

“We can stop here kid.”

Zes just paused to catch her breath before returning to her usual stance. "No, I can keep going." It's been oddly refreshing to spar with an older version of herself. Z is different but it's like there is some part of the woman that gets her.

That part usually frustrates the hell out of her too.

So much for wanting to hate her, this training is good.

Z just chuckles. “There isn’t a rush here. You can take your time with this.”

"That's not the point!" She didn't mean to yell that part. It even got Z to react.

The woman didn’t try to ask about the outburst. Just calmly looked to Zes to let her finish whatever she was thinking.

“It is safe but that just defeats the purpose of trying to be better than where you came from. I am capable. I like to stay that way.”

Z just gave a smile and walked up to Zes to give the kid a head. "You are. I pity anyone who would try to get the drop on you. Just, you do know that kinda thinking is how you start trying to do things on your own, right?"

Fuck, I hate it when she makes sense.

"Why do you have to make sense?" Zes pouts but still lets the woman do what she wants with the head pats.

Z chuckled. “Call it insight. I won’t tell you people will just wait till you get to my age. It’s good to have the basics. Though, if you never need to use them then that’s better.”

That was what I always wanted as a smeetling. Just to be able to do as little work as possible. There is no big danger to fight. Just me wanting to make sense of some things.

Fictober24 day 17 "Strangest thing I have ever heard."

“Strangest thing I have ever heard.”

Hunter Zes just laughed when Kat said that. Mostly because her partner's expression looked so serious. "I don't know. I've heard stranger."

"I beg to differ. Whoever invented that word for that florpus abomination is to blame." Kat huffed. Neither woman had room to talk considering where they were having this conversation.

Currently, Z is doing one-handed pushups while Kat is balanced sitting on her back. Their conversations often happen in the fight room.

Maybe next time we can try talking while fighting. Uncle would be so proud.

Z just smirked as she continued the training. "Well, considering who my parents are I am not phased at anything at this point."

“True enough. You are lucky you are with a sensible individual like me.” Kat shifted her weight a bit when Z switched to using her other arm.

Hunter Zes just chuckled when Kat said that. The two have known each other for years at this point. So she knows the pride in her girlfriend's actions. "You said you were throwing our child out the window, and then proceeded to throw Gir. You tend to say the most cursed sayings."

“Cease. I am a delight.” Kat just smacks Z upside the head with little hesitation. That doesn’t break her round of pushups in the slightest. Only makes Zes laugh more. “Besides, you and I both know your brother’s Gir likes flying out of things like that.”

One of these days this woman is going to murder me saying something in front of Dad. Oh well, it's worth it. Uncle can bring me back if needed.

Fictober24 day 9 "Don't listen to me, listen to them."

“There a reason you called me here kid?”

Zes looks at her older counterpart with the usual frustration. It's still weird for the kid to see anyone in her mindscape. It just makes her nervous that someone else would see Z. Well, it makes her more scared.

She sighed. “Yeah, but I meant the void or something.”

"Kid, that's not how this works. Your power tends to call out first to those who are similar. I just tend to listen more." Z just chuckled as she leaned back into the wall of the room.

Yeah, but I only just got used to her. I don't want to think about other versions of me that could be out there.

Zes sighs. "How did you get so calm and collected?"

That got the older woman to start laughing. Before Zes could protest, she put one hand up. "Sorry, it's just funny that you think I'm the calm and collected one. I have my moments, just like anyone else. I just had time."

Yeah but If I know what she did then I can do it better!

“That’s Vauge and you know it!”

Z just stopped laughing and gestured to the objects in the room. Each object that she feels has a special connection to the people in her life. They all just showed up here when she started accepting more people.

"Don't listen to me, listen to them. You're already doing it. Asking for help when something is hard. Letting people in your life. I already did that but you got to that answer a bit quicker. Listen to those around you. That's all the advice I got." Z just gives a soft smile and pats Zes on the head.

I wish I could just be mad and hate her. I can't though. That advice makes sense...
