𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗟! 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗟! sender: agent brooke.
❝ thanks for joining me on this mission, senior. i am currently situated in the alola region; one of the union's most trusted liaisons, the aether foundation, has been acting suspiscious for a while. several cases of missing rescued pokémon have been noted, with the foundation claiming release, however none of the released pokémon can be found through our trackers. it is our mission to infiltrate the foundation and find out what they're not telling us. ❞
brooke. hanzou's read about that one. he's crossed paths, of course, has spoken to her in person — hardly avoidable when working for the same union, — but these have been sparse events, not to mention short in their being. anyway, he reads about everyone he works with, or might potentially team with. it's just good practice, in his mind, to be as aware as possible of anything of mission - level relevance. brooke's diligent, with a highly respectable track record. hanzou almost grinned at being asked if he might work with her.
a reply sent in turn, tardy in his arrival personally due to waiting longer than anticipated on several files to finish downloading in preparation. ❛ copy that. i'm en route & will message you directly when i'm in sight of the region shortly, to coordinate the best rendezvous point. in the meantime, please send any individual findings you've acquired, & keep me up to date on anything you find relevant. ❜
accidentally indulged in too much me - time ( read : obsessive data collection ) . hasn't interacted with another human being longer than a second in weeks.
we move in silence. if he does anything to her, it will be a very long while before he can do anything to anyone — rangers stick together, after all. but, so long as brooke seems fine. what the hell, sure.
please hanzou you have to stop i don't know what that means
bazinga ? you know ... bazinga.
« they hate me because i'm a narc »
it's part of a now sorta-defunct event thingy i intended to write out once but i still like it & it's a nice little window into characterization for hanzou, thus,,,,,
statistics fascinate him. data is as interesting to hanzou as the experience. after all, after the fact, data & memory are all you have left of an event. so he makes sure to collect it, makes sure to study it, to improve himself & make almia a better place. the region's been in precarious situations enough, in his mind. he'd like to keep it as safe as is manageable by mortal hands. & thus, data. research.
sometimes one has to look outside the region even when thinking about the inside, for just as with learning from history to better one's future, you must learn from the environment to better your immediate surroundings. this leads to a buneary hole of news articles & broadcasts & papers, covering one’s dorm's wall floor to ceiling, marked & strung like the world's most chaotic collage. to the discerning eye, however, a pattern emerges.
hanzou calls chairperson erma, & the words he speaks are the first thing he’s said out loud in a week. ❛ i think something is coming towards almia. ❜
