the funny thing is it's not like hanzou necessarily hates being around other people, or that he necessarily dislikes socializing, it's just that he sucks at it, or rather he's a difficult person to socialize with to begin if one's expecting any amount of tact, & he doesn't really change his behavior to make it any easier. plus, she's a workaholic to the bone & gets really absorbed in any given task she's set her mind to, meaning she just inevitably doesn't get out a whole lot unless it's to do with her ranger work. the people that can get past hanzou's. hanzouness, those she has little to no qualms talking & hanging out with; she rather likes knowing what everyone at the ranger union is up to, they're all a big team after all & hanzou does care about each member, & so long as they're not actively bothering her progress of a task, she's perfectly content listening to someone waffle on about their day, even more so if the other person is working while they talk.

hanzou's parents try. they really do their best, if occasionally clumsily when he's at his least sociable, & they indulge hanzou's necessity to lock himself up when in the zone of research when at home while still sneaking into his room to refill his water & snack plate so he can stay focused. his dad's as much of a stickler for everything being in its right place at the right time as him, so they keep each other in check with that. his mom makes efforts to make hanzou get involved with the family through framing more mundane stuff as quests, errands & time spent doing activities a task to be completed, & it makes hanzou not instinctively think of any of it as stealing time from work. he likes his parents, they take care of him, & he takes care of them & his sister in turn.

also smth to know abt hunter, tangentially, is that he's the type of person to hear any kind of big news & respond in total monotone. not deadpan necessarily, because he is fairly expressive (at least when it comes to determination & annoyance, raises his eyebrows plenty for a spectrum of positive emotes), but his voice simply does not carry Half the emotion it might for others 99% of the time.

hanzou's pachirisu is always out & about, his only registered pokémon, its being sent into a pokéball entirely utilitarian, to save it from a fall he can't reach or protect it immediately after it's fainted.

charles typically keeps his primary quartet of cats in their pokéballs, but quartz, topez, & garnet are always out when at home or his interpol office, both locations fitted out with landings & scratch posts for any of the lot. amethyst only gets let out when he's home without personnel or on a job as the phantom. the other dozen cats all lounge around his wyndon manor, only sent to their pokéballs when being transferred to a villa in another region due to charles staying there longer than a few weeks.

martin tends to keep umbreon out, as much a partner in travels as a battle ace, with the rest typically getting to flex their legs in non-battle contexts during mealtimes on the road.

hibiki doesn't keep any of his pokémon out, with the technical exception of porygon in his phone as opposed to the more classic rotom, though he does have a rotom as well. the rest of the pokémon he has were "inherited" from professor akero, & they still do not like his ass, so he keeps them tucked away as much as possible, even at the lab.
