Literally everyone on my dash who doesn’t happen to believe that Dean is bisexual in canon has gotten an ask like that. It’s insane. Like. Who cares. Leave. Firstly, why does it matter what these people read for lunch. Secondly, there literally is no correlation. It’s not relevant. Canon is not relevant in fanon. Any part of canon can and will be changed in fanon at a whim. That’s the entire point.
And like - who the hell goes into a fic like “alright so Dean is bisexual and Sam is gay and Castiel is pansexual”. Nobody. Literally nobody. Unless it’s a writer specifically writing, or a reader specifically searching for fiction, about Dean/Sam/Crowley/Abaddon/Castiel/Mary Winchester being orientation x and it’s a plot point in the story, it doesn’t matter. What matters is the story and the character relationships. Not the orientations.
Like hello I’m the only member of team “Sam is straight” and yet, lo and behold, you will only see me writing Sam x male character fics. And I still think he’s straight even in my fics, just that exceptions happen. For a variety of reasons, such as being more comfortable portraying same-sex relationships in my writing and relating more with male characters which automatically translates to me wanting to write about said male characters and their dynamics together. Regardless of orientation, or what I interpret their orientations canonically as. And - it’s just - it’s. Ugh. Why is this a thing.
