8. if you were going to write a non-fiction book on any topic, what would it be?
Ooh okay it would probably be an extension of the senior thesis I wrote for my undergrad degree. Which was about analyzing history through the movies made. I specifically focused in on Denmark because it is a perfect example of why this works. (A small nation that's produced films for as long as the medium has existed that has distinctive ebbs and flows and clear eras of using film as acts of rebellion, etc). I could write ad nauseam about this, and would extend it out to talk about other case study countries! I am a huge advocate for incorporating multimedia into education. Not just as primary sources for what people consumed, but for what stories were important to tell.
12. if you could make a candle that smelt like anything, what would you pick?
Incredibly difficult to decide here because I love candles. We've got a pumpkin & mcintosh one right now that's so good. I love a good piney one with smokey notes too. Anything warm. I had a Jimmy Buffet® Boat Drinks one that is still to this day the best smelling candle I've ever owned.
18. a book series you can always escape in
Spenser. I talk about these books a lot and how important they are/were to me but literally I can pop a Spenser audiobook on or crack open one of the ones I own and just... ! They're the best. They're the best schlocky private detective books set in places I know well enough to see in my minds eye. They're not perfect, but they're my favorite books.
If I was going individual book... I'd have to go Fire Bringer which is one of my favorite books from childhood. It just Slaps and it is definitely like... a batshit book ! but I love it and always get sucked in when I reread it.
