i like to imagine that whenever huohuo is going to be sent away for exorcism missions, everyone at the divine seat of foresight asks for a scheduele so they can prepare for the worst time of their lives.

yanqing suddenly stops working and gets cranky, allowing only mingzhong into his office only for her to be forced to listen to his greivences. at its not like she can even tell him off because 1. she also misses huohuo, 2. hes technically her boss and 3. because she gets paid listening to him.

yeah, the head of general affairs will call mingzhong over and pay her a significant amount just so that yanqing doesn't bother everybody else. and tbf, 80% times it does work. with this method, yanqing will get atleast some work done.

the 20% are the times where yanqing feels a bit too strongly about his prediciment and will completely shut himself in his office. no one can reach him, so work gets piled up until huohuo comes back to scold yanqing.

one of huohuo's favorite things is arriving at the xianzhou luofu from a week long exorcism.

as she stumbles out of the starskiff and onto solid ground, she nearly collapses in fatigue and relief. yizhi fares far better than her, no sign of tiredness to be detected anywhere on his person as he steps out beside her.

the former vidyahara high elder patiently waits for huohuo to catch her breath before they begin to make their way to the seat of divine foresight, starting idle chitchat as they walk past soldiers and workers without much fuss.

when they do arrive to the door, huohuo is frantically searching through her bag for the exorcism report. yizhi doesn't even spare a second as he opens the door and walks in, snatching huohuo by her waist with his tail and dragging her in with him.

huohuo only manages to force a small squeak out before she's ripped from yizhi's tail and whisked into a hug. a familiar scent of mint wahses over her, and all rigidness fades into oblivion as she relaxes into the hold of her general.

blue and white swarms her vision as she faintly hear mingzhong's voice in the background, but her attention is snatched away when yanqing begins to sob dramatically about how much he's missed her and how everything was so dull and bleak.

huohuo can practically feel yizhi's deadpan stare and mingzhong's teasing smile directed onto them, but when yanqing squeezes her tight the judge cant help but smile as her hands come up to return the hug.

yeah, it feels good to be home.
