13. peach
“What do you think?” Ino twirls.
The answering silence sends her excitement pitching into darkness. She falls still, bruised.
Sakura is staring. She’s simply staring, her mouth open but no words coming out.
“Don’t laugh at me,” Ino glowers, crossing her arms over her chest. Peach had seemed perfect when she’d seen the yukata in the shop. She realises now that she should have gone with her usual lilac.
Sakura blinks. “Laugh? I wasn’t…”
Sakura takes a step forward, reaching out as if in a daze and gently touching Ino’s forearm.
“It’s so beautiful.” Her expression softens. “You’re so beautiful.”
