New Alchemist, Who Dis?

I am very proud of the progress made in the last... Fuck me running, it’s only been six months Bit of time! When I first introduced these two characters, I half expected to be bored of them by the end of June. They were only meant to be a side project while in quarantine. I pieced together a story from a pile of scrap ideas and slapped a sketch of them on top (pictured in the top left corner). Little did I realize the reservoir of potential hidden beneath them.
Now as we gingerly step into 2021, I’ve found myself with two characters brimming with story. I figured I’d honor their growth by redrawing their first sketch. And boy! What a difference six months a decade can make. There’s still plenty I have left to learn and much more I need to improve upon. But this, here, helped prove to me that progress can always be made. Even if it means only taking little steps here and there.
There’ll be some minor changes made to Max and Auggie’s story as I start writing again. None of their interactions with others should be drastically affected. Only their backstory will be fine tuned and readjusted. The detail worth noting will be their difference in age. After receiving advice from others and a bit of deliberation, I decided to age the siblings up by a couple years. Augustine will now be seventeen going on eighteen (thank the Gods) and Max will have just turned twenty-five!
I’m very excited to start editing these two into an optimal version of themselves! And in part, I’d like to thank all of you for such an encouraging environment. All the support and kinds words have helped me out of my awkward shell. I’ve been more adventurous with my art (both writing and drawing) in eager attempts to keep pace with all the amazing talent I see come across my dash. This year has been...Less than savory. Easier for some. Rougher for others. And seeing a place where people gather to lift one another -barring the occasional ass- has really helped to make all these funky events tolerable.
Never stop creating, my dudes. Because you’ll never how much your art means to someone else.
