Being married to Jaime Lannister would involve…
Jaime is constantly on edge for you
Especially whenever Cersei is involved
He would never put it past his twin to try and hurt you
To say Cersei is not a fan of you would be an understatement
She thinks you’ve stolen her brother away from her
She also knows that if she does anything to overt against you that she risks losing Jaime regardless
He’s made it clear to Cersei that you are off-limits but he doesn’t really trust her not to do anything
At first, telling her to back off is because he knows the marriage is important for both of your houses and his father would disapprove of Cersei trying to sabotage it
Eventually, it’s because he truly cares very deeply for you and the idea of Cersei (or anyone) trying to hurt you absolutely disgusts him
In general he doesn’t really like it when you’re around his family, with the possible exception of Tyrion
He’s extremely reluctant to confess his relationship with Cersei because he doesn’t want you to think less of him but also that he believes it would put you in a position of danger
He wants to be able to put it behind him, though he knows the consequences of his actions will always be there to remind him of his mistakes
When he finally does tell you, he is fully prepared for you to want to leave him
It takes you some time to process and he is entirely willing to give you the space you need, despite how badly he wants to be with you and plead his case and beg your forgiveness
Jaime is trying so hard to be a better man than he used to be and he is aware that he’s made many, many mistakes in his life
You are not one of those mistakes
Everything he does, he does with you in mind. What will keep you the safest, what will allow him to come home to you, what will make the world a safer place for your future children?
If you show interest in swordfighting, he’s more than willing to help teach you
He loves the idea of you being able to defend yourself
It gives him an excuse to spend more time with you and, besides, he finds it kind of sexy
After his injury, it takes him some time before he’s willing to spar with you again
He becomes more uncertain in general after his injury
You take care of him, helping him bathe and dress himself and massaging his wrist stump when it starts to ache
You’re patient and reassuring and willing to practice with him in secret as he learns how to fight again
Eventually, he confesses to you what happened in King’s Landing during the rebellion and what the Mad King would have done had he not killed him
He still has nightmares about it sometime
You always comfort him
Jaime tells you things he would never tell anyone else, not even Cersei
You call him your lion
Walking through the gardens in King’s Landing or at Casterly Rock together
Lazy, warm mornings with soft, slow kisses or playful, laughing ones while the sunlight filters in
Rougher, desperate kisses when he returns from battles because he missed you and he’s just happy to still be alive
Or he’ll just hold you, his nose against the crook of your neck and his arms wrapped tightly around you
You can feel the tension in him during those moments
The fear that he’ll lose you or that you’ll leave him
The fear that one day he won’t be able to come back or he’ll do something so awful that he drives you away for good
