Idk why but I can't help but get reminded of Karl Heisenberg every time I'm listening to this song. Though I tend to associate more heavy? Songs to him to match his steampunk vibe,, this one has the perfect instruments that put this sad undertone yk, and the singer's voice is just so haunting to me, lingering, almost like the long drag he takes from his cigar and the smoke that lingers around him yet not as strong in engulfing him as the thoughts that make him come to this point of stillness - of how will he escape, or even if he will ever have the chance to. As he looks to his creations who are to be his rebellion and yet inside he questions if he stands a chance even though he's strong enough by will to defeat Miranda. Maybe he knows he can fight it out, yet what if something stopped him? What if freedom remains a distant dream?
The specific lyrics - "I think I better go before I try something I might regret" is like his inner thoughts as he sat there in countless "family" meetings, contemplating his plan and preventing himself from acting on impulse and anger, to immediately give all the Lords and Miranda the fight he has always planned. Perhaps why he leaves meetings before anyone, annoyed and angered but moreover hungry for the freedom he imagines and losing control of revealing his rebellion earlier than planned.
And ultimately, the untold undertone of this song holds true to him, he never makes it out. He had mistakes in the past yes, but the man only craved freedom, and was denied it. The only other person he thought could be useful, became his end, and his wish went with him to the grave, had he even got that in the last remains of himself that appear nothing but mere metal scraps to the outsider. Maybe inside, he was more. Maybe a chance could have made more of the man, but it remains still and forgotten. And in the end, only the thoughts that told him - even if he could make it, he'd still lose - were right. And he chased after what he couldn't ever have. And it did indeed, remain a distant dream. Freedom was his honey whiskey - sweet on the tongue of imagination, but burning down his throat whenever he tried to taste it.

I'm too into characters I like, heck love cuz I absolutely love this man,, so these are some feelings I might word out from now about how I perceive them and such. May be different from Canon btw as they are my headcanons or perception and may be deep or philosophical? I can't help it guys.
This song always gets me to think of him sm sm Heisenberg my beloved
Only if capcom gave you a chance
Not to mention, he's killed yes, but all for Miranda and later to get away from Miranda (the soldiers he was making), what option did he have, not like anyone could stand up against Miranda or pick him up and take him away or sum. Had he worded it well to Ethan and if capcom let us join hands with him in game, he could be a good character for future games cuz capcom could use him as a mercenary and in that process he'd somewhat get the weight of his previous sins off, not entirely but he's the most aware out of all of them such that he wouldn't actually even kill outside the village, he has no reason to. That's why he seems like wasted potential because capcom wants to kill all villains even if they could be run differently. No one's saying he is like innocent, but he is aware and not actually insanely crazy compared to alot of other villains. Hey he's not making bioweapons like Wesker! He just wants anyplace away from Miranda tbh and his toughness is cause he had to be that way to ensure he survives in the village and up the only ranks where he isn't threatened that is, as a Lord.
