departure depicts to how got[6 -jinyoung] die: in a car accident, while they all relive their memories, inception-like as the car begins to crash and they start dying (flying) one by one

turbulence depicts the actual dying: a tighter knit metaphor of the plane crash, that only jinyoung awakes from. in the plane, he is the only one who is buckled up bc in departure, he was the only one who couldn’t fly (since he’s still alive). thus he wakes up at the crash site, alone and alive
